US Cellular to buy divested Alltel properties in these states...
Don't ask me how I know this as I can't share and if you don't believe then oh well, I'm sharing anyway. I have been told from reliable sources that US Cellular has/will buy Alltel in the following places: Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, Idaho...and that's all I have confirmation of, but I'd venture to guess it would include Kansas and Nebraska as well. Only time will tell, you heard it here first!

Unless USCC wants to expand in Montana, then I don't see it happening. If USCC is willing to spend money to overlay western Kansas with CDMA, then they'll avoid it completely. For the VZW network that's being divested in Nebraska, USCC could acquire it if there's enough competition to allow it, as USCC already holds the A side for most of that state.
I could definitely see them trying to get some of the divested Carolinas, and maybe North & South Dakota, if they put in a big bidding war.
I doubt USCC will go after Minnesota, even though they do have some PCS there.

I really don't see USCC getting in on the action at all. They have never shown any ideas of aggressive expansion, which this would be. I see Cox/Sprint coming in before I do USCC. I'd say the likely buyer is At&t.
If your source says the purchase "has" been completed, why has there been no press release. That's pretty big news for USCC and the second a purchase is agreed upon I would imagine it would be made public.
