Circuit City Liquidation, what happens to VZW stores inside?

After seeing the press release today about Circuit City liquidating all assets and soon closing stores, what will happen to the Verizon reps inside those locations? I am assuming they are corporate employees so hopefully you will just be transferred! If you can, please let us know.

I was one of the initial Verizon-Circuit City employees from 2004. I've since moved on, a few years ago, but I maintain connections with the people I used to work with (both Verizon and CC employees).

Verizon will find places for every Verizon employee working in a Circuit City store. We're not in the business of letting people go simply because they don't have a place to work out of. It'll be cramped (overstaffed) in the other stores for a while, though. This happened a while back when we had to move the Verizon employees that were working in Best Buy back to regular stores.

What will likely happen is that the Kiosks inside Circuit City will remain open during liquidation because it will be prime realestate for the duration due to increased trafic. Once the stores close the employees will either be transitioned into store locations or, god forbid, laid off. In most ares this isn't really an issue because there are maybe 1 or two Circuit City's to a district which means an average of 2.8 to 5.6 sales reps and support staff have to be transitioned into other locations which won't affect headcount all that much. What concerns me is the districts that have four or more Circuit City's. in these situations you have to transition 10 to 12 or more sales reps. Another issue is that supervisors of these locations are...

In our area CC supervisors will become floating ARSMs - they will have a base store, but travel between stores to fill in coverage gaps, trainings, and vacations.

I am not getting a good feeling with this. I am on this call and there is a lot of vague speak about "minimal impact" and headcount and quota concerns.

According to corporate Verizon Wireless is working on an exit stratagy and intends to be out of the stores before they close.

Well, if I recall most Alltel employees are keeping their jobs as Verizon Wireless moves them.

Most people don't know that Verizon had people inside Best Buy. We were trying to talk Best Buy into having a kiosk like Circuit Cit, but Best Buy was resisting pressure from Verizon. Best Buy had people from Sprint, Verizon, etc. working the store along with their own people. Locally, we had two people in the Best Buy that was about half a mile from the Circuit City I was working in. There are two Best Buys in the area (compared to four CCs), each with two Verizon employees.

When Best Buy refused to give up on selling multiple brands, we pulled our people out of Best Buys and put them somewhere else. For a while, they were in the Circuit City I worked in. After a while, they ended up in various full locations.

Look at it this wa...
