HI guys! Love this site! My question>>Verizon or Sprint?

I've been with Verizon forever and I'm no longer under contract but I'm thinking of making the switch to Sprint. I love the BB 8330 that I saw and used at a Sprint store. I couldn't believe how fast the internet svc was. Is Spints internet service faster than Verizons?
I know I'll have to pay a little more up front for the phone if I switch to Sprint but I liked the looks of their 8330 compared to the Verizon version. What do ya think? Make the switch or not? TIA

Do what you want. 🙂
If Sprint works for you great, do it.

I would push them hard to let you sign a 1 year long contract. And if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

I am with Alltel and I am out of contract and I am considering the same choices if I stay with Alltel then I will automatically become VZW.

I get no reception with VZW in my home or office and I could buy a femtocell from VZW but it is $250. my plan from VZW would be $149. plus all taxes and whatever else for the mini tower thingy.

The plan would be $99.99 from Sprint is totally unlimited everything plus tax and then they have the airave which is also a mini tower type thing and they are $100. and $5. a month for service.

My only problem is deciding if the storm is worth the extra money for VZW or if I should save money and go with Sprint.

My plan was to stay with Verizon because of the BB 'Storm'. But I hated the keyboard and after reading the reviews on the 8330, I figured I'd check it out. Wow, its amazing!
Btw, I'm in central Mass and coverage is not a problem w/ Verizon or Sprint.

I'am in the northern central part of ohio right on the lake and I actually only get good service from Alltel here I have 5 bars all the time.

With the economy the way it is though I think saving $60. a month is a big deal thats a lot over a year or two

it is a lot, but will you have service at all with sprint where you need it?

Both offer the mini-towers, but that covers your home only. What about where you work? where you drive? etc.

And is that area part of the Trust deal? if it isn't then verizon's service should be alltel's as the transition continues.

Well your five bars of Alltel will now be five bars of VZ coverage. Ohio was not a state that VZ had to give up coverage in for the merger to work. It will be a fifty fifty if VZ will let Sprint roam off there towers in that area. You always get what you pay for and there is a reason Sprint has to give away the farm for there "remaining customers. Wait till everything is worked out (second quarter) till you decide.

Go with Sprint. Verizon customers like to bash other carriers coverage all the time but really it's all the same. I used to have verizon and now i have sprint and honestly, i can't tell the difference in voice coverage. the only differences are my cheaper bill and faster internet with some really cool features.

its not all the same you idiot. if it was all the same why does sprint lose a million customers a quarter with the best pricing in the industry. meanwhile verizon with their "high" prices adds almost 2 mil a quarter.

if it was the same why does vzw end the quarter 3 million customers ahead of sprint from where they both started?

Calm down. What was the point of calling me an idiot?

I have Sprint and I have coverage everywhere I am. I used to have verizon and I had coverage everywhere I went as well. To me, there's no difference. But now I have a phone that can do all kinds of stuff for a great price and I like that. I don't think that makes me an idiot.

The reasons I think Sprint has lost so many customers is because most of them are/were Nextel customers, sprint used to have very poor customer service (but I've notice that I am speaking to americans more often when I call these days), and most of all advertising. Verizon advertisements are the best out there and people listen. They have an extremely good marketing team.

Name calling is uncalled for. Man talk about taking it personal. I have told you guys that it's just phone service. no one should get that wrapped up in defending a carrier even if you work for the carrier. I say go with the Sprint Simply Everything plan. If Verizon DOES get better service in some area then you can simply switch your Sprint phone to roam and it will pick up those towers. With the Curve on Sprint you will not be able to sen picture messages to phone numbers only email addresses, but I can help you out with that as well. Just reply and I will point you in the right direction to convert wireless numbers to email addresses.

Hey, did you know you get 100.00 off any phone of your choice?

Its the New Every Two program.

So you would pay like 100.00 for the Storm (after the 50.00 MIR)

249.99(2 year price)
- 50.00(MIR)
-100.00(new every 2)
-------
$99.99 (Price after everything)

Im in question as to how bright Sprints future is. They have made a few poor business decisions I think and though less expensive than VZW, they are indeed losing customers, money, etc. My friend here in Florida constantly (has sprint) is dropping calls, missing calls, etc where Im next to him never missing a beat. (yes, hes had a different phone) Of course, one can argue depends where I (of you) am at blah blah blah. just my .02, you get what you pay for... Why do all the Metro customers come running back and beg for their VZW phone to be reflashed? haha
