Verizon Femtocell Mini Review and Unboxing Pics!
So I've been waiting for this unit for quite some time and I was finally able to sit down and activate the device this morning. I have also included a link to Flickr where I have some unboxing photos of the device for your viewing pleasure 🙂. Now lets get down to the Nitty Gritty of this bad boy.
First thoughts....
Fit and Finish--
The device is sharp, it comes in a sleek black housing with 4 nice blue LED indicators for: Power, System status, WAN, and GPS. No other lights are on the device. The unit also has a small black pop up antenna. It looks sort of like an older motorola surfboard cable modem. I really like the look and it's one tech accessory that I won't mind having on display.
Function--
Setup was simple. ...

cool cool.
Now, will this work in an Extended Network area?
so it will pick up EVDO off the tower and 1X off the femtocell.
cool, i was hopeing that it wouldn't cut off EVDO. 🙂
You can play with the settings online and set up priority numbers so others cant hop on your femtocell.
So, do you set the numbers you too access it online or can aand phone pick up on it?
sorry for all the questions.
lol

you have to been within a 15ft radius of the femtocell to get the signal. Any verizon phone can use it. But you can set priority clearance for YOUR phone/s. I have mine set up with my cell number and a few close friends that have verizon. So if somehow, someone else is accessing it, they will get bumped off if three of your preferred numbers wanna hop on.
VERY NICE!!! So you really have to be within 15 feet?If I set up in my basement I will be more than 15 feet when upstairs 😢
