HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900 Question

Is it true that this smartphone doesnt require a data pkg. Also will it work with my current connect plan. Thanks. If all true what benefits will I find with this smartphone compared to dumbphones.

I think you are confused. The connect plans refer to data for the dumbphones - like a Voyager, Dare, or the Mobile Web, Vcast devices. A smartphone or PDA will require one of two things - a data plan (required on all devices released after 11/17/0😎 or pay-as-you-go data which is billed at like $15.00 +/- per MB. There are a few phones still available which were released before 11/08 and don't require data plans. The XV6900 touch will require either a data plan at $30/month or pay-as-you-go data. With or without your connect plan, pay-as-you-go will run up your bill in a hurry if you aren't very careful. Know what you are getting yourself into!!

There is one other option I forgot to mention. To block data completely. Then you are not charged for it, but you have no access to anything, either. Depending on what you want the smartphone for, that could be pointless.

if you block data, which is called (national access block) you also will not be able to send or receive picture messages.
