Network problem in the Chicago area

Any info on this?? What kind of company lets something like this go for 3 days without repairing such a major issue???

There is something seriously wrong with the Chicago network. All callers calling ANY Verizon cellphone, even prepaid, from a landline are greeted by severe static and crackling as the phone starts to ring. This is happening to 3 of my lines, and about 15 people I have tried to call, and 3 prepaid lines as well. I think "it's the network."

Oh NO, The Network never fails. It's all your phones that are having a problem. You need to upgrade them all.

Please president, I was noting the fact that there are many trolls in the VZW forum saying VZW sucks ad infinitem...but at least she will say she hates VAZ, others don't.

It's Sunday, don't get your panties in a wad.

The network isn't failing, there is a slightly annoying staic when the call is starting to connect. Nothing compared to the numerous 3G outages your beloved at&t has had lately.

Hmmmm, the key word here is LANDLINE calling VZW. Perhaps there is a trunking issue on the LANDLINE side causing this feedback??? All Verizon can do is report the issue and wait for the LANDLINE to fix their static issue in this area....

Exactly, the landlines are trunked from the landline network to the landlines that go to the VZW MTSO. If it was "The Network" you might have static throughout the call, but wait static is inherent in ANALOG connections and VZW doesn't have ANALOGđź‘€
As stated the landline has an issue when the lines are trunking into VZW's switch, maybe you could get off your butt and call VZW to see if their tech support can file a trouble ticket to test the issue, isolate it and have it corrected.
Then again sitting on your butt and complaining in a forum where nobody has your info to test the issue is likely going to be more productive.

Wow, your troubleshooting skills are amazing. And your logic. It's got to be the landline side, you know, since their is probably only one landline carrier for all of Chicago, thats the reason that all landline carriers are having problems connecting to Verizon cell phones. Good work Sherlock.

Good God!! The problem is static and it is LANDLINE people calling VZW. This isn't rocket science, there is an issue with the lines that the landlines are trunking calls into the VZW switch. Most likely it only affects a specific switch and not all of the Chicago switches.

To sit around and whine instead of calling VZW to see if they are aware of the issue is pure intelligence. Sit on your but and wait for it to get better? The people have static while the phone is ringing, big deal as long as it is clear when it connects.

As for my troubleshooting skills, I'll put them up against yours any day.

Cut through all the crap on the message board and call customer care. Ask them to look up any service alerts in the Chicago area. If I were at work today I could pull it up in our internal systems in about two minutes.

Service alerts tell us just about anything... even if a backup generator is out (regardless of whether or not the generator is in use). They should be able to see any open tickets regarding their link into the landline systems.

Remember, even trans-carrier calls are routed through the municipal telecom.

Oh, and postpay or prepay wouldn't make a difference, as long as both phones are in the same local. If one's on extended network (roaming for a prepay), that'd be different, but I'm assuming from your post that thi...

I live in the Chicago area, and I didn't experience any problems with my phone calls. I'm on Verizon too. Not like my co-worker who has T-Mobile, and experiences outages a lot on the GSM side, and occasionally on the 3G side.

I have checked, and there have been NO Tower problems in your area.

It must be the landline service problem.

But, call Tech support, and they will send a ticket out to the landline service to have it checked.
