Which is more important to YOU..the network or the phone?
Now granted, there will always be those rare instances when a different network has better coverage than VZW in certain areas. I'm not talking about those people. They have to do what they can. But MOST people are going to downgrade their service just for a new pho...

There seems to be quite a few threads on here lately about people leaving VZW simply because another network is offering a deal on a cool new phone (BB Bold on AT&T is one example). This makes no sense to me at all. If I have said it once, I've said it a thousand times...I don't care how awesome the phone is; if the network sucks the phone will too! A phone is only as good as the network it is on. In my opinion (and experience) Verizon has the very best network by far.

Going on a fishing trip Matt?
Well if I am, I'd better take my Verizon phone because once you get off a paved road, most other networks drop! 😛 sorry...that was too easy.
Your statement about how people who live in major cities don't need to worry, only makes sense if you never plan to travel or go anywhere.
I've tried other networks. Verizon is consistantly the best.

Are you still using an AMPS phone? LOL
Tmobile is a great company if you live in or near a city. If you don't, your phone will really suffer. I was with Tmobile when they first became tmobile (instead of voice stream) and while my phone did work in some far off places, it was voice only. no texts, no voicemail, etc. Coverage is huge.
So if i was offered a G1 (a phone I really love) for free with free coverage for 2 years if I dropped Verizon (even before employee plan) I would not take it because I wouldn't have service where I spend 90% of my time.
