No More: "No Cool Phones" Posts, Please!

All of these forums have a similar complaint: "where are all the new cool phones, and can I get one for free?"

Geeez! People, it's 2009, and most phones these days can do things a PC couldn't do twenty years ago. What are you really needing in a phone anyway?

I think the REAL problem is that most people want phones tailor made to suit their own likings. Well guess what? The phone features you want may not be what someone else wants, and the dilemma that phone manufacturers and wireless companies face is combining things together in a way that will appeal to the broadest possible audience.

Maybe someday phones can be custom ordered like cars and furniture. You would be able to select the color, style and features you want, and delete...

Thank you! I couldn't have said it better myself!

I would like to add one more thing...

Every phone, just like any other piece of equipment, has a life expectancy of "x"...whatever "x" is. The more you use it, the shorter the life expectancy. The more text messaging you do, the quicker the keys wear out, etc. Also, you get what you PAY for! A free phone, guaranteed, is going to crap out on you faster than something you spend some money on that has some quality built into it. And as far as the "cool phone" crowd is concerned...I have to say that the GSM-based phones, on balance, do look a bit nicer than what I see, generally, on CDMA networks. Good post.... I could not agree more. The only that I would added is that when people get the phone they want, then they complain about the price and threaten to change carriers and disconnects there service if they don't get the phone of their choice.

Good post. The other thing people need to do is just CHILL when they know a new phone is on the horizon. Case in point, the Storm last year. People were itching to get the device, complained it took too long to come out. It comes out and then they complain the SW is buggy. Gee, if they had a little more development time maybe it would have been better.

Don't complain that they're slow in releasing devices and then complain it's not functional to your satisfaction when it comes out. As little as 6 years ago nobody knew WHEN the next phone was due or what features it would have, now we know as much as a year ahead of time...
