I've gotten mixed responses to this question. I'm on a family plan with Alltel, 2 of the 4 plans being up for upgrades, the other 2 under contract. When will I be able to upgrade to a Verizon phone without having to cancel my current plan and opening a new account with Verizon? So basically, when is Alltel going to be completely absorbed? Thanks in advance for your replies.

And here I thought you were looking to go to AT&T. 🙂 I browse the Alltel forum, too.

The question no one asked on the other forum is this: do you know if you're a divested Alltel customer or a non-divested Alltel customer. Once all of your lines are within 4 months of their contract ending you can port over to Verizon Wireless if you wish. You won't be charged an ETF by Alltel and you won't have activation fees on Verizon. You will get Verizon equipment and plan, and keep your number. Otherwise you'll just have to wait until everything gets moved over, which nobody knows yet.
