New idea? Two-line phone

Is there such a thing as a two-line wireless phone?
Can anyone recommend resources for reading about this? If no such thing exists, why would that be?

you can do that already.

put your primary # on NAM 1. Put your secondary # on NAM 2. Forward your calls from the NAM 2 # to the NAM 1 #.

two lines, voila!

Lance is correct--NAM 1 and 2 would be the way to do it. Most phones have an auto name setting, so the second # doesnt have to be forwarded. Each phone # has to be on a specific calling plan before it will work in a dual nam setting.

Sorry- I don't understand terminology. Could you give a little more information on procedure so I can make it clear with CSR in setting up. I know from experience that if I ask the 2 line question plainly I will be told it's impossible. If, however, I can explain the procedure in terms they can understand, maybe I can get further toward my goal.
Thanks.

Ask him/her how to setup dual NAM on your phone. That should do it.

According to CSR dual NAM is reserved for and uses regional and local pricing and broadband. One cannot apply America's Choice pricing to this second line. In other words, VZW is not presently supporting the second line as a usable additional voice line even though it could. If anyone here knows otherwise I'd be interested to hear about it.

The CSR did say that this could be changing in the near future but I am not holding my breath. 😳

That is partially correct. Dual NAM is not for broadband, if you want proof do a search for some of VZW's old phones when broadband wasn't around. I have a Moto 270c that was made way before boradband and its dual nam capable.

NAM 1 (1st phone #) needs to be on a national calling plan i.e, Americas choice and the PRL can be programmed via *228

NAM 2 has to be on a local calling plan (local plans are used for voice) and the prl needs to be flashed (hooked up a to computer at a corporate store).

That's all.

Yeah, that is pretty much correct. I work in the data tech dept at VZW. Most phones do have dual NAM capability (built in by manufacturer)...but we are no longer supporting this feature

For Dual NAM to work, you need to have 1 one on a national plan and 1 on a local plan...being that we no longer offer local calling plans...it wouldn't work.

I'm pretty sure, even if you had it set up...NAM 2 would have to be the active line to get a call, if someone called NAM 2, while NAM 1 is active I don't think the call will go to VM or immediately forward...it should perform much like if the phone was suspended, you would get an automated recording, that the line is no longer active.

Cell phones have spaces for 2 lines, called NAM1 and NAM2; however VZW does not support multi nam phones. Your phones are capable of it but we wont teach you how to do it because its more trouble then its worth. I work in Tech Support and that is what we are advised to tell customers.
