VZW rep question regarding family share plans -

My wife and I currently are beyond our contracts so we are free to do anything. I currently have a regional plan for 1000 minutes and she has a 700 minute plan that she barely uses. We are therefore considering the 1000 minute family shre because we believe we can keep it under 1000 minutes not including the time we talk to each other, nights & weekends or other VZW customers.

Since we go month to month do we need to sign a contract even for one year or can we continue as we are now (month to month) but consolidate the plans without a contract.

We have phones although we will be upgrading through our new every two option which we can do prior to changing any plans.

Is this considered an upgrade or simply a plan change? I will still have 1000 minute plan but in this case sharing it.

PP change. you are taking advantage of a new promotion, so it will re-commit you for a year, it just won't effect your upgrade date.

Grant is correct--new contract needed. Just add little more info-- one year contract from the date of change for each line, and the new pp does not affect the eligibility upgrade date for each line (a whole other date that determines when you are eligible; so if you're eligible now the calling plan change wont affect that date).

do you agree with Grizz that the activation fee would not apply?

Yes i do agree. Activation fee or also called a service establishment fee only applys to new lines. Your phone #/service has already been established, therefore no act fee

However the next time you go in (22 months from your equipment purchase) only one line will be eligible for new every two due to you being on a shared plan and new every two only applies to a plan 35 or higher...(70 + 9.99 is your plan so only the 70 dollar plan will be eligible.)The secondary may recieve a different sort of disc based on taking the total revenue 79.99 and dividing that by the number of lines you have (2) and making it 40 per line. This basically means the primary still gets the 100 off promo(ne2), and the secondary gets i believe 20-40 off promo price(theres an equipment discount matrix out there for the actual offer). Also the secondary line will have to pay a processing fee while the primary will not.

Not all areas are going to have a processing fee associated to purchasing a new phone for the secondary line. I personally have not heard of a processing fee for any area, but if you say so then I guess it's area specific. In the west it's a little simpler; for ne2 discounting, subtract $100 from the price you see online at vzw.com, for non ne2 lines pay the discounted price he/she sees online.
