I was just reading on a forum about the new no roam plan. The subject is of re-signing your contract, such as for new phones. What is the policy on this matter? They were stating that if a person signs a new contract that you are forced into the new no roam plan, is that true if all you are resigning a contract for is new phones? What about if you go in and pay full retail price for the phones and do not sign a contract, as is not required since you are not getting a discount price.

If you're on the old amc plan you will stay on that plan untill you change it your self--you will not be forced to change to a new amc plan if you get a new phone.

What the statement you read is saying is that the new no roam plan is what is given to brand new lines of service.

There are several answeres to your question. If you simply buy a phone at retail price then a price plan change or contract extension is not required. Nothing should have been changed. If you are doing an upgrade, you still have the option to stay on the same exact plan you're on, just extend the contract for another 1 or 2 years depending on the pricing you want for the phone. There is no way to do an upgrade without extending the contract.... you're getting upgrade pricing because you've agreed to stay for another year or 2. You will never be required to go with the latest plan unless it's not compatible with something new you're wanting. You should have the option to keep the plan you're on, just extend the contract.
