BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation’s most reliable wireless network, is also the nation’s wireless leader in customer loyalty. Based on customer retention and turnover rates announced publicly by the largest providers, Verizon Wireless in 2004 added more customers than any other U.S. wireless carrier-- a record 6.3 million -- while posting industry-low full-year and fourth-quarter churn rates – the percentage of customers who disconnect their service in a given period of time.

According to the most recent earnings announcements issued by the nation’s largest wireless carriers, churn rates were as follows:

Q4 2004 Churn Rate
Verizon Wireless - 1.43%
Carrier A - 1.5%
Carrier B - 2.6%
Carrier C - 2.7%
Carrier D - 3.1%

2004 Churn Rate
Verizon Wireless - 1.5%
Carrier A - 1.6%
Carrier B - 2.7%
Carrier C - 2.6%
Carrier D - 3.0%

I do agree that one store can reflect the company and it is horrible that the store you go into sounds like they are all about the numbers. I used to work for VZW corporate and I can tell you that not all stores are like that. Most that I have been to are very helpfully and will usually make exceptions for each individual case. For example on your T730. how many times did you have it exchanged? Their are some exceptions that can be made. If it was faulty with in your 15 days they should have been replacing it with a new model from the box. If it was after the 15 day period then a warrenty unit was given to you. We used to after 5 credible warrenty phones exchanged did offer them a different warrenty model. If I had these problems I would hav...

Verizon Customer Service - Sucks...

Gosh, not in my experience. Every time I've called them they've been courteous and quite helpful. They also seem to score pretty high in all the CS surveys, usually behind only T-Mobile. Perhaps you had a bad experience?

Phone Quality - Sucks

Again, certainly not in my experience... my condolences if you've had bad luck. My Samsung 530s hasn't had a single problem. I've even dropped it a couple of times... keeps on ticking.

Verizon's Willingness To Back Up Its Products - Sucks

Can't comment on this, as I haven't had any problems that would require a warranty repair or...

Well what I can ask you is this:

As for the "willingness to back up their products" question, what are you referencing?

The reason I ask is simple: if you are referencing phones that are defective, the only way they could back them up is if you have the insurance on it. Why is this? Verizon, Cingular, ALLTEL, Sprint, and all the others do not manufacture the equiment. Therefore they cannot "back" it. Cellular carriers are service providers not equipment vendors. They sell phones as a courtesy to their customers so they can provide their own equipment at the store instead of having to rely on a third party vendor.

This is no different than your cable company. The difference? The cable TV doesn't sell TV's, but if your TV goes out, y...

Well in many rural parts of the country the only choice is Verizon or Cingular. So no wonder their churn rate is low. Even if people are unhappy with Verizon they only have one other option. I would almost bet that they churn rate for Verizon in urban areas is close to the churn rate for other carriers.

This guy has had so many problems whith his phones but he keeps buying motorola.. maybe a brand preference that is hindering him. Had you bought an LG you probably would not have had any problmes at all. And remember it isn't verizon making defective phones its motorola or the manufacter. What I think the problem might also be is that your expereince wasnt good for you because they didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. I have never been to a service center that does not offer to swap the phone out for another model with in the 15 days. They understand the importance of that 15 days and that after that you are stuck with that eqp. It sounds like the story has some disgruntled customer embelishment on it to me.
