Clarification on Upgrades

I started my account in October 2008. I am just curious what's the difference between an annual upgrade and an NE2? I know what the NE2 is, but I don't know the difference. I'm also confused because I have been told by Care that if I am signed up for myverizon then I can be eligible for an annual upgrade, however when I log in it says I'm not eligible until 2010. Can someone help me clarify, do I have to have all of my lines signed up on myverizon to be able to get an Annual upgrade, or can it just be one line? I have a family plan with 3 lines, 2 of which I have set up on myverizon. Thank you in advance!

Being registered on My VZ is irrelevant to the annual upgrade. You can receive an annual upgrade only on the primary line of a family share account, the secondary lines will not be eligible for an upgrade until the "2 year" mark as listed on My VZ. You don't get an extra credit towards the new phone on an annual upgrade, and it may be subject to a $20 early upgrade fee. Speak with a store rep or customer service for clarification.
