Help picking out a new phone

Ok, I think it might be time for me to give up the ole star tac. No matter how many batteries I throw at it, none of them last more than 2 calls anymore.

I have another line that I have had a few different phones in the last few years, none of which I have been pleased with.

First and foremost I NEED Great Reception. I need a loud Ringer, and loud speaker (listening near ear, and speaker phone) the last few phones I had I could barely hear on, or hear ring.

I find Motorola is good for reception, and loud enough for me, but I read nothing good about motorolas lately. My last LG sucked, so I am not sold on that.

What do you guys recommend? I want a flip or clam shell phone, but like I said, reception, and loud ring, loud speaker a...

If at all possible, go to a store and check the phones out in person before making a decision. Do not buy a phone sight unseen, return policy or no.

you will never fine anything better than the startac, and the e815 is the only worthy contender for old timers like yourself. Maybe just go back to a rotary phone....if not try the G'zOne Boulder it has loud ring tones, loud speaker phone, and good reception not e815 good but fine for any normal person.

I did not say that just nothing as good as the E815...maybe you need to switch carriers if you need that phone to hang onto a signal. I know i wouldn't stick with verizon if I had reception issues.

Motorola despite having some quality controls problems is still the BEST RECEPTION phones you can get from verizon. I would look at the Motorola W755 that has great reviews..and also the MILL spec Motorola Adventure V750...my wife has that phone and I did too and the reception is very very good. On howardforums many were calling that phone a worthwhile replacement for their beloved E815.

Thanks for the advice, I like the W755, but was scared by reviews of it freezing all the time. Isn't the adventure a razr with PTT?

Motorola Rapture┞¢ VU30

LG Chocolate® 3

Motorola MOTO┞¢ W755

Look at these phones. Im sure you will like one of them. All pick up great service, have loud ringtones, and sound good.

LG’s are reception kings on VZW network, so are Blackberrys. Even though you mentioned…one bad experience with an LG I give em’ another try.
I’d try the new env3, pretty basic but can do a lot if needed. I had the LG Dare witch really pulled in VZW’s signal. 😁

never had much luck with reception and lg's personally. just mho, but moto's are the best for reception. i had the W755, if you don't load it up with all kinds of pictures and music, etc. it won't freeze up. i just used mine primarily as a phone and for texting and it was fantastic.

Thats what I am looking to use it for. A phone, an occasional text. I just read some bad stuff about Moto lately, but I personally have had great luck with them.

Yeah, moto's had some issues along the way, but not this one. (And for how bad everyone claimed it was, look how many people had Razrs once upon a time.) The W755 won't win any design awards, but the soft paint is nice because you don't drop it as much, and it's pretty durable if you do. Have it as my backup phone still and although I always give my cast-off phones to people, I refuse to part with it...
