Got a used Lg Dare and tried to activate but was told that it cannot be activated. They said I need to have a new plan to activate this phone? Anyone know if this to be true? Old plan is three years old. I feel like they are a little bullish on this idea..
Thanks plan depressed...

It is true. The Dare requires a Nationwide price plan. It sounds as though you are on an od America's Choice plan. The difference is with the AC plan using the Mobile Web uses airtime whereas with the Nationwide data is billed at $1.99 per MB. Not a big deal unless one is used to surfing the web during off peak hours.

Changing plans doesn't change your contract.

One year contracts don't have New Every Two. If they did, it'd be called New Every One.

You have to start on a two year contract and complete 20 months as a plan above $35/mo (not including special features and taxes) to qualify for one of the two New Every Two discounts (depending on your price plan).

Price plan changes do not extend your contract or change your NE2 date as of November 2007. You are safe to change your plan from AC to Nationwide as long as you are wiling to accept the change in the way data is billed.

As Azeron said. You need a Nationwide plan in order to activate this phone on your line, and if you plan is only 3 years old, there shouldn't be a price difference, just a different way to deal with Data.

All touch screen phone, and most newer "higher end" phones require a nationwide plan. Basic flips can still be activated on America's Choice.

Not sure if you can do this now...but when I used to work for a Premium Retailer you could most certainly still activate these "Nationwide-only" phones on America's Choice plans, however no data will work AT ALL as a data block is put on automatically by eROES if you elect to use this plan so that means no mobile web, MMS, Get It Now/Media Center, VCAST, etc...so if you don't want to use any of those features you might find a rep willing to activate it on AC for you (that is, if it is still possible, I dunno for sure).

EROES doesn't do that anymore. Now it just says the equipment isn't compatible with the selected plan and makes you change one or the other.
