Good service here but a stupid decision to not offer the Tour preorder for upgrades. I've been a customer for over 10 years and was just told this by customer service. What a ridiculous decision on their part. I can say that this might make me bolt but the alternatives are not too good around here.

I really doubt that the Tour will have the supply issues the Storm had. Have you tried going to a store and seeing if they had a reserve/wait list?
I know for us, once we find out when we're getting them in store, we will have a wait list up.

We had a wait list for the Storm and the night before we earned we couldn't use it. I had customers pretty upset to be beat out by the overnight campers.
We heard about stores reserving boxes only for new lines. We were expressly prohibited from doing that. Besides, each of the sales reps in my store have a monthly quota of 50 adds and 100 renewals, I can't afford to give up two renewals for a single add, or I simply won't get paid very much. The name of the game is retention now. Growth isn't what it used to be.
I haven't heard anything about how corporate stores are going to handle this yet, and I'm not surprised that we're in the dark because -officially- we only found out TODAY that we're going to launch it July 12. Unfortuna...

Yeah, we're an indirect, so we were able to use our lists. We didn't have any campers though. The local corp store was telling everyone that the storm was a corporate exclusive for "at least 6 months" and yet we had them on lauch day, and had a waiting list for them for at least 2 months.. I think we sold more of them than the corp store did, but we never got number confirmation. 😎
The only time we "reserve" phones is against outright purchases. as long as you can upgrade, we'll sell you the phone. but if you just want to pay retail, it can't be a phone we have stocking issues with. the reason we do this is that even on the most basic of upgrades, we make more by selling the phone+plan than we do by selling the phone at retail c...

Not a mistake, check Engadget and BGR comments, all are reporting the same thing, maybe that's the reason the page does not work for anyone right now. The probably had to remove it because of all disgruntled current customers. You have to admit that was a stupid mistake on their part to introduce it that way.

I and I am sure hundreds of others sent an email saying how disappointed (pissed) I was that I could not preorder using my upgrade. In response I was told it was a mistake and would be corrected "in the next day or two", as the matter of fact he said he would call again when it could be done. Hopefully before the 12th!

Glad VZW is taking care of you. Upgrade eligible customers are treasured greatly. There is very little growth in the wireless industry these days. All the carriers seem to be doing is pulling one another's customers.

Exactly. I remember when quotas were opposite, renewals were about half of adds, such as 50 adds and 25 renewals. Now it's 50 adds and 100 renewals. It doesn't take an engineer to tell us where the company's priorities are.
