Mifi as replacement modem for 'grandfathered' EVDO user??
I am not under contract as my current device is over 2 years old.
Does anyone know if I can get a MIFI to replace the current card and maintain my current plan with it's unlimited status? When you get a new device do they make you agree to the current data bucket scheme? Is the Mifi treated the same as a replacement card or dongle??
Also - would appreciate any thoughts on using the EVDO vs other options.
Thanks for your thoughts.
If you are out of contract Verizon has no obligation to keep you on a old plan.
I would expect that have to get a new plan.

Grandfathered plans are there because it allows you to finish your contract without verizon changing the terms (avoiding people getting out of their contracts, lawsuits, etc). once your contract is up, verizon has no reason to keep you on that older plan. Yes, they make some devices backwards compatible to retain the business, but if you want the "latest and the greatest" you'll have to transition to a newer plan.
