Do you have the data plan on that line?

No. My previous phone had the $15/month and when I activated the Q9n it didn't even tell me I needed a data plan as it usually does when upgrading to a smart phone.
So I would expect to still be able to get mobile web.

No, PDA's are different. You need to change the feature setting from the $15 Vcast to the email & web feature to have internet access. Welcome to the big leagues.

Mobile web isn't on smartphones, instead, they get full internet, not the condensed stuff from mobile web. Call vzw, get the appropriate feature added to the line.

BTW, you're lucky you're not getting internet access on your moto right now. It'd be billed per mb without the data plan, and it'd be an ugly bill.

Here's why you (fortunately) aren't billing per mb:

You subscribed to vcast, meaning unlimited MB usages, which blocks mb billing in VZW's billing system & feature set. When ESN changes are conducted, the system auto-populates necessary features, but sometimes not all of them. It kinda just populates the generic ones without getting too specific for your phone.

In your case, it carried over the MB billing block, but not the data plan. Normally the Rep him/herself has to manually add it.

Oversight like this normally happens when the customer performs the esn change by themselves.

So I just call up VZW and ask them to add a data plan to my account even though when I try to do it through myverizon.com it doesn't work?
The ESN is obviously in VZW's system since I was able to activate it but the phone still isn't recognized.
