I have a friend that attended a VZ LTE demo recently and came away really impressed by the speed, and options that this might bring to the market. Anyone else have specific insight?

Ohh yes.

8-10 mbps is what we are picking up that every one will have, LTE can do 50 mbps, but it won't happen.

Im excited about this.

If VZW changes to LTE, will that have any effect on voice calls? I need to keep my VZW relibility!

Nope. Verizon will still use 1X for voice and LTE for data.

Not trying to be rude but if your friend attended a lte demo shouldn't you know what you need to know? Sounds like to me you are just trying to start chat about LTE which is ok ! But I say your friend should have shed all the light that you needed

You don't always get all of the facts at those VZW info junkets. Usually a lot of hype is thrown in there so that you talk about it.

Free advertising at it's finest. VZW employees are the best brainwashed in the industry. 😉 🤣

The person that attended the demo works in marketing for a Fortune 500 company that does business with VZW, and she's not exactly tuned in to the details, plus there was lots of network discussion which she said was a bit over her head.

My understanding is that LTE will run on a different spectrum that what VZ is using now, which should enable it to be quite a bit faster, have better in building coverage, and open up more applications.

I was wondering if anyone else had MORE details, like rollout info, what cities it would hit first, types of devices that may be coming, etc.

it's all talk now. but the talk is that it will be rolling out in the largest markets first, so really big citys. but when it rolls out, there will be new blackberry's, possible iphone (depending on if they come to big red at all) and i'm sure a million other new phones that will support the network. the biggest talk is that LTE iphone though.
