How can my phone be used on someone else's account?

I'm still in contract with Verizon but I have an LG DARE that I don't need anymore. I'm thinking about selling it to a friend. Is there a way where I can have it "unlocked" so my friend can use it on his account? If so what's the easiest way and what's Verizon's policy on that? Thanks.

just replace your Dare with a different handset and the ESN will be clear...

I'm assuming you have a new phone on your account already? If not, take that new phone and put it on your account. Then the old phone (the dare) should be able to be activated on their account.

Your friend will need to be on a Nationwide calling plan. If he is on an America's Choice plan he will need to change to Nationwide to use the Dare.

You don't need to have your phone "unlocked". All that needs to happen is that you need to put a different phone on the number that has the dare. Once you do that then the dare has no phone number attached to it. Then you can give your friend the dare and have them go online to verizonwireless.com and switch it over there for no charge.
