"It hears. It knows."
Google search by voice.

"It sees in the dark."
Built in 5-megapixel low light camera.

Pretty funny stuff.

SO I convinced my brother to let me use his price eligibility (setting up a new line) to get a new phone if I give him my Tour.

If this phone is what it's shaping up to be, I'll be snapping it up.

I LOVE my tour, but I'm a google fanboy at heart, and as long as motorola doesn't &*^% up the hardware, this will be my next phone.

I think the Droid looks awesome, I just have some serious doubts about Motorola though. I mean even the Moto's that came out after the Rzr's all had that same old crappy UI, who knows though, this phone might live up to the hype.

well, the OS is decided by the carrier unless you are talking smartphones, and the last real moto smartphone was the Q.

THe UI/OS will be stock Google, so that is not motorola. What I am worried about with motorola's is:

Battery life
Build Quality
Memory leaks (OS should help this)
Lack of Sufficient RAM (seems this phone won't have this)

What are memory leaks?

a program using up too much memory. Basically programs are supposed to "dump" ram once they are done using it, but some programs don't do this.. they "leak" or rather, instead of dumping the old ram, they just add new ram for new tasks, tying up more of the phone until it freezes/shuts down.

Well then why not just close programs your not using? As far as I know there are really only 2 phones that won't freeze when having a LOT of apps open, and those are the Palm Pre, and the Nokia N900.

memory leaks make the program "keep" the memory after the program is shut down, so while that program is no longer using that memory, no other programs can use it either.

So your saying the only solution is the power the phone off and power it back on? Is Motorola the only one that does this?

It's not the only one who has this issue, but their phones seem the most prone to it. It happens when an error develops in the code.

by taking his upgrade, I'm essentially paying for his phone (he was going to get the tour anyway) which lets him leave his ATT contract early...

if he had to pay for his own phone, he would have to pay for ATT for at least 4 more months rather than be added to a family plan, since ATT won't prorate his early term.

he worked it out and I'm saving him a few hundred dollars.
