The Droid has the ABILITY to tether...the only reason it isnt offered right now is because Verizon hasnt finished creating the VZ Access Manager with the proper drivers for the Droid.... so its not a phone issue... The VZ Access Manager will be up and running end December/beginning January.

Thank you so much for clarifying but, no matter what the problem, it still knocked this phone out of the running for me this time around. Maybe next time.

Understood. I suppose this means there is no Android equivalent of Active Sync or Hot Sync then Typically the drivers for those programs would work with VZAM. It is really a shame. One would think that they would not release this phone with such an issue or at least get Smith Micro working on the software around the clock.

If they waited to release the device, they would miss the rush.

The iphone shipped without the ability to MMS (something used a lot more often than tethering), could you imagine the cellphone market if they had waited the years it took them to finally release it?

Thank you, I mean kinda getting sick of people crying about the tethering. A million features that are great and most are in tears about tethering.

Like you said Iphone shipped without the MMS feature. That would have haulted me from buying the iphone.

Most places I go to I am able to use my AT&T wi-fi anyway cause I have their home services, and anywhere else 9 times out of 10 have wi-fi. Having the internet is important but not to a point that I need to tether on my phone.

It does a lot of things well. It can't tether..,for whatever reason. This is a forum. I think it is okay to critique the device for its positives AND negatives. Sorry...I'm not a cheerleader.

I think his comment was more directed to a lot of online reviews that make it seem like the lack of ability to tether the device somehow makes it useless.

Tethering is coming, Verizon just needs to update their coding with VZnav to recognize the device.

While I agree it is a feature that needs to be fixed (and they are fixing it) it's not something they should hold off from releasing the platform for.

This is actually no different than any other device. It's very common for them to be released and then the tethering capability to come within the next month or so.

I am glad that you answered this too. Here is what I read in the Scoop reviews that concerned me.

"Having 16 gb memory card is useless if you cant load apps on that card, truth is you can only put up to 256mb of apps. Memory card is only for music and photos and so on. Doesn't have flash player, not good."
