I cannot believe this. It looks like an actual commercial! If this is a real, is there any wonder why AT&T is striking back with the lawsuit? I do not blame them at all. They are taking huge body blows from Verizon with these attacks against their 3G network.

Well, it's because AT&T has pilfered some of the best customers from Verizon and if Verizon isn't careful, they won't come back.

Verizon is perfectly in the right to point out the glaring deficiency in AT&T, and that is AT&T's network is inferior.

Hmmmm...I am continually dealing with the 'hip' impaired on this site it seems. First it was the corny, old dude not knowing 'dropped' is synonymous with released and now this. All I'm saying is that Verizon is wrong (cold-blooded, ruthless) for this commercial. Not that the are not within their rights to make the comparison. And yeah as long as they keep hammering away at AT&T's network with these commercials which differentiate their 3G coverage from AT&T, no one should be surprised that AT&T is scrambling to stop them by any means necessary.

Hip impaired or not, it was a creative commercial.

Verizon feels threatened, and they should feel that because I left them a year ago for the iPhone. I see no difference between this ad and the Mac/PC ones. They're funny, and there's more than an element of truth to them.

If AT&T wants them to stop, all they need to do is make the network match Verizon's and then Verizon has no choice but to stop.

LOL Easier said than done. It is going to cost money that they would obviously prefer not to spend. They have never been willing to pour dollars into their network to the same extent that Verizon does.

Personally I think it's TOO LATE to pour dollars into deploying more 3G, 4G is being deployed by Clear, and next year Verizon. So the definition of "moving forward" has been changed from 3G expansion, to 4G expansion.

Pretty much what I'm trying to say is that Verizon is going to leave ATT in the dust, not only in network size, but data speeds also.

Who knows, maybe by 2011 ATT will have to become some sort of value wireless provider similar to what Tmo is to keep customers.

Sure 3G data cards were good enough for business people, but NOT consumers like you and me, so however many people that are with ATT, like myself, who want true wireless broadband speeds, will be looking to Clear or Verizon for it, not ATT.

Yes, but if AT&T allows Verizon to deploy LTE first and then creeps out their own LTE in metro areas only they could then roam off Verizon every where that they choose not to uild out. If Verizon does the One Voice the feds will force them to allow other carriers to roam.
...

But doesn't roaming too much have an effect on a companies bottom line?

When watching these advertisements I noticed something which proves that ATT doesn't have an argument in court, because at the bottom of the screen is says explicitly "Comparison based on square miles covered with 3G."

ATT is arguing that this misrepresents their entire network. Whereas Verizon goes out of there way to note at the bottom of the advertisement that the map represents ATTs 3G coverage. So people will NOT be misled if they read the bottom.

Sure. They are grasping at straws, but I do not blame them. If there is a slight chance that they can intimidate VZW into pulling those commercials, they have to try. They are defenseless against those commercials. The only other alternative would be to spend money expanding their 3G coverage and that is not going to happen. Hell they are spending enough resources converting the 850 to 3G in a few select locales.

I've looked at the 3G maps of both services (from their own websites), and they nearly match up with what's depicted in the commercials. Verizon does have a big advantage with having roaming available with select carriers for 3G (where Verizon has no service, or only 2G service). AT&T hasn't done more to build out their network, and most GSM regional carriers may not even have 3G either because of money, or because they don't have enough spectrum. They can't use T-Mobile, due to T-Mobile building out their 3G in AWS, and AT&T isn't asking for phones with AWS. Ao AT&T has put themselves at a disadvantage, and they don't like it that Verizon Wireless is pointing it out in commercials.

ATT would rather get critics to shut up than make changes.

People pointed out that Verizon wasn't open, that they didn't have "world firsts" for phones...

Look what happened. (like it or hate it, the droid is a HUGE step for verizon)

People make fun of ATT, ATT sues... and ATT has the same problems they've always had.

I agree, Vz is making HUGE strides in their offerings. It was only a few years ago that they were being ridiculed for having the crappyiset line up of phones and now, without the iphone, AT&T is going to lose, big time.

And I, for one, never bought the idea that crApple offered Vz the iPhone first. At the time both companies were too much alike (controlling and small minded) to agree to anything and second, Vz didn't offer a big enough base for crApple. They were always set on world domination, only achievable with a GSM device.

That's a pretty creative commercial.

Verizon has to respond somehow, and they're not going to do it by comparing their phones with the iPhone.

Even if the Droid farts sunshine and rainbows, it'll take way longer than the holiday season to start the climb to the bar set by the iPhone.

AT&T is going to rue the day they didn't take full advantage of the momentum given to it by the iPhone. It's nice to give a fat dividend to investors, but the truth is that they should have suspended the dividend in an announced "war of the networks".

Of course, that requires vision and AT&T has none of that.

Verizon on the other hand, will rue the day that they gained the same type of user as the iPhone, in the same quantity.

So it really is a commercial?! Whoah! They are really ripping AT&T to shreds. Man! Every time I see one of those "Map" commercials I just shake my head. Poor AT&T... They have no defense. That's the thing about the Alltel buyout. Alltel matched Verizon like a jigsaw puzzle. All the areas Verizon did not cover...Alltel did.

It's just sad because we all know damn well that ATT is raking in 10s of BILLIONS just off of data revenue from the $30 premium they're charging people, but yet they just don't put that revenue back into the network.

Agreed. I love these ads.

As for Macs, I find it amusing that they're claimed to be the "fun" and "hip" computers, despite the fact that Windows PC's have a whole lot more going for them in that area (i.e. games). And the "Think Different" slogan's even more ironic, considering how similar every product in any given product line from Apple looks.

Yeah, I saw those, those ones are funny also, but I just can't get over the humor of the Iphone saying I have no network, I will go to misfit island, frinkin hilarious!!!!

It will be interesting to see if this campaign effects ATT at all.

It's definetly a fact that ATT only cares about big metro areas.

I saw this and have to agree. I hate the fact that ATT phones have to wait to read the SIM card in their phones before you can make a call. I mean sure they tout that their network has better coverage overseas in Europe but frankly I will never be in Europe to care.

Just my 2 cents. I like Verizon for the simple fact that I can turn my phone and make calls simple as that.

Isn't Vodafone just as good in Europe as whatever service ATT uses?

I think they just mean they have more countries covered. Perhaps some Eastern European country is covered by them and not VZW?

Can anyone really say which country is covered by ATT and NOT VZW?

I was just saying that ATT claims that they have the greatest GSM, and I was saying who cares.

This is the USA not Europe so I am glad that Verizon's network works great here. I have had nothing but issues with ATT when I was with them and I'm almost sorry that Apple made the iPhone for use on ATT. Sure they have all the customers for the phone but whats the sense of having the iPhone if you CANT make a phone call?

Still, I'd love to know which country is covered by ATT and NOT VZW. Do the just have ONE country covered that VZW doesn't, or 2, or 3?

Or is it that they have more area covered across the globe in terms of sq miles, population?

Does anyone really know what they mean when they say best global coverage?

but at the end.. as the story goes. the toys are gathered and the children loved them. so.. clever verizon ad, but at the end, we love the misfit toys and AT&T. so i guess AT&T got the last laugh. 🤣

Rudolph is a reindeer who is tormented by his dad Donner, and fellow reindeer because of his shiny nose. The only reindeer who liked his nose was Clarice, a doe. Rudolph meets Hermey, an elf who quits his job so he can be a dentist, and is facing problems with the other elves. They run away and meet Yukon, a man who wants silver and gold. The are attacked by the Bumble, an abominable snow monster. They escape and go to the Island of Misfit Toys. The are told by the toys to tell Santa to find kids who want them. Rudolph leaves his friends...
