Any Moto Droid users experience this?

Verizon Wireless’ vaunted network may not be paying off for some users of the Droid, who are complaining about problems with call quality on their smartphones.

“There’s a problem with echo on the phone, so when someone calls you, to them it sounds like they are having a conversation with themselves,” says Heath Brashier, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, software developer who bought his Droid, which is manufactured by Motorola, just about a week ago. “It’s happened to me twice so far.”

It's something in the software. The update that comes out on the 11th or when ever should fix it.

Its a maintenance update. Most of the things are minor. And I'm glad to see the are being proactive about any minor issues.

The software update is to fix some minor issue, like voice dialing with bluetooth headset does not work...I have the droid and have not had any of the issues previously mentioned. So far so good.

I would be interested to know if/when the voice dialing over BT is enabled on the droid. This is an essential feature for me.

Most phones these days need constant updates. I bought the enV Touch the day it came out and notified me of an update as I was walking out of the Verizon store. My iPod Touch gets updates like the iPhone as they pretty much use the same software and they're constantly releasing updates.

Phones are like computers these days so yes updates will always be a factor. Doesn't matter if its on AT&T or Verizon or whether its a Blackberry, iPhone, or Droid. Updates for all.

It didn't say it was a problem with Verizon's 3G network, nor did it say a problem with Verizon's network at all. It's a minor software issue with the Droid. Most new phones coming out (no matter what network its on) has software updates that shortly follow. As long as we're human there will always be flaws.

And don't make the iPhone sound so perfect. It had issues too. And it gets updates as well. Matter of fact, the first iPhone didn't even have 3G or could send a picture message. You can't even take the battery out. Sadly the iPhone may not have software issues, but has lots of network issues. 😛

Motorola having a software problem is like the Sun shining in June. No surprise at all.

Yes, I want an iphone. I'll never have one if i have to go to AT&T to get one however. So the sooner these pretender handsets flop the better from my perspective. Although the Vphone V1 is VERY tempting.

Let's be honest. I am not the biggest fan of Motorola so... I am not going to say I didn't tell you so. Who would believe me anyway?

They sucks (except for the walkie talkies then they are superior) If sprint were to drop moto like the crap they are they would be a top notch company but if they did drop moto... they would have no phones at all for a couple of months.

I have a droid. best voice coverage I've had on a phone. Wifi is a little wierd when you try connecting to the net through it after an idle period, but it's solved by clicking the link again.

I picked a Moto Droid up and the audio fix in the link as said only helps out going audio (if at all). I did it and incoming audio still gets clipped or I can hear echos. 😡

Hey Moto, VZW if you want to push out that OTA update any sooner... 😁
