New AT&T Luke Wilson Commercial

AT&T has a new Luke Wilson commercial which I believe is very effective. The commercial details AT&T's coverage (not merely 3G) of 97% of the population of the U.S. Since AT&T claims Verizon's 3G commercials imply no coverage in non 3G areas this may be the way they should have responded to those commercials in the first place.

Do a Native coverage map. HAHA! AT&T needs to watch it when they say Bozeman, MT. AT&T doesn't offer service there, only Roaming.

Effective is not the word I would use. It looks like they threw that commercial together in 5 minutes and there's zero humor factor. But to each his own.

i have seen a couple of the luke wilson "i love at&t commercials" and i always laugh at the end when on the bottom of the screen the first thing it says is "3g coverage not avaliable in all areas". which is exactly what verizon was saying in the first place.

it's funny everytime.

There is also a third commercial that should be airing soon. This commercial shows a guy fumbling with two Verizon phones trying to talk and use data at the same time. Luke Wilson pauses the commercial and holds the phone to the guys ear so he can suf and talk at the same time. That's the fisrt one I liked from Att.

Why doesn't AT&T attack Verizon for the new ETF policy on Advanced Devices...unless they are planning to follow Verizon's lead. I'm just saying...

For the average customer why does it matter? Most people don't sign up to turn around and cancel. The ETF shouldn't be an issue.

Please...I am certainly on record in favor of a carrier charging whatever ETF it feels is unnecessary so don't browbeat me. The point is that I expect AT&T to follow in Verizon's footsteps (much to the chagrin of AT&T-philes who bashed Verizon for the Advanced devices ETF in the first place).

Because they are planning on following Verizon's lead.

Enough of the buy 5 iPhones and cancel with just a small ETF yet loose $1000 will get them to change. Plus they don't have to be the bad guy because Verizon did it first.

Exactly. They are at least considering it otherwise they would have come out swinging at Verizon for enacting it. With their history of being led about by the nose by Verizon (look they are only a half a month behind on copying the exact same prepay broadband access options) I think we will see it very soon. If not then Luke Wilson should be mentioning it in a commercial.

That blue map VZW uses in the ad is where something like your iPhone would work vs you Android? Is that right? Or is it just 3G voice?

It's just 3G coverage. Your Android would would with highspeed 3G anywhere on the red map while your iPhone would only be 3G in the blue map. Your iPhone would still work outside that blue area if AT&T has coverage, it will just be slow and not 3G.

So, comparing the VZW red map to the blue at&t map is accurately descriptive, like-for-like?

Yep, 3G to 3G. It just so happens that 100% of Verizon's network is 3G.

They should do a commercial with Owen Wilson trying to get coverage on his iPhone and getting so pissed off he trys to commit suicide.
