Discount on Data Plan for Secondary Line?

I have a family plan with four phone lines. Two of the secondary lines are blackberries with data plans. I have been getting a 22% discount on my phone plan and 20% off the data plans, but that changed last month and I no longer receive any discount on the data plans.

I called Verizon and one rep told me that it was a problem with my company's discount with Verizon and that I would start getting the discount again this month. I called today after I received a new bill and was told that she was wrong and that Verizon was discontinuing employer discounts on secondary lines. Does anyone know if that is correct? Is Verizon alone or are other carriers doing the same thing?

I can tell you AT&T never offered company discounts on features. The fact that VZW offered it was a suprise to me.

I have not seen anything to indicate it is a policy across the board. Perhaps the agreement your employer had with Verizon changed.

I know AT&T offered discounts on the data plan for the iphone because everyone at my work got it for that reason. And it wasn't limited to the primary plan - many coworkers got iphones for their spouses and only had to pay 24.99 for the data plan instead of 29.99.

That's why I was surprised Verizon was going this route across the board (if indeed that's the case).

we get a discount with Verizon and its a nice one, but I haven't noticed if that effects features as all the discounted charges are on the primary line.
I work for AT&T and currently the majority of our employer discounts effect rate plans (the primary charge for family talk plans) and data plans including data plans for "dumb" phones. Prior to April of this year we were also discounting text packages but that changed. Also it depends on the agreement type, some of our customers get the discount off the 9.99 secondary line charge, the majority however do not. Have you asked HR with your job to look up discount information. Supposedly they will have it, I know we are always told to refer customer's to their HR for specific discount info i....

Discouns are only for lines that are over 34.99 monthly. The data feature discount is only on the primary line. Sometimes the system will attach it to secondary lines but they come thru and remove any discounts that should not be there. I would not expect to receive the discount on the secondary line.

As companies sign new Major Account Agreements (MAA) their smartphone/Blackberry plan discounts are changing.

On the old system, the MAA stated that on the corporate end, only lines over $35/month qualified for discounts on data plans over $25/mo. On the employee end, the discount applied to any line without a minimum voice plan requirement.

Since Verizon revealed their new Small BusinessShare plan in May, they changed their MAA. Corporate accounts, which can now be a line over $35/mo OR a $9.99 line (or higher), now qualify for a discount on monthly data plans. On the employee side, now only lines over $35/mo qualify for data discounts.

Unfortunately for employees, they really have no say in this. The company signs the new agree...

☹️

Same here. I receive 19% off primary line charge and WAS receiving 20% off secondary line data fee of 29.99. No more. Was told to look at my bill and sure enough in the announcement section it noted an error was made allowing such discounts. Our employer purchasing department called Verizon and verified same. It was nice while it lasted and "nice" that they did not try to recover the amounts given over the last years in my case.
