Motorola ROKR

Does anyone know why Verizon won't pick up the Motorola ROKR ZN50? It's only available in Korea, but it looks great.

Only the ROKR Z6M was compatible with Verizon's CDMA network. All other versions are GSM and therefore not compatible with Verizon's network.

This is partially a response to the OP and the response by hrmles1.

First, South Korea is a CDMA country. The two carriers there use CDMA with EVDO and ALSO use UMTS for some data applications. There are no GSM carriers in South Korea.

Second, the ZN50 is exclusive to the Korean market. That's why Verizon can't pick it up. Motorola decided that.

Third, is Verizon WERE to pick it up, there would need to be some slight modification to the phones. Korean CDMA is split into traditional CDMA and traditional PCS frequencies between the two main carriers there. One carrier uses 800MHz CDMA, the other uses 1600MHz PCS. Here in the US, CDMA carriers have dual mode phones to cover this. If the ZN50 is exclusive to one Korean carrier, ...
