Can someone explaining pricing and how one would obtain BES?
BES. Blackberry Enterprise Server. Depending on what size server you want to purchase, the price ranges anywhere between $5k and $30k. I've acitvated a business account before that had a $25K BES. Keep in mind though, VZW has their own BES's which are used in default if a coporation doesn't have one propriatary.
What is your purpose of having one?

Well, service providers do not have enterprise servers, Blackberry does, and the businesses that subscribe to the service through whatever provider they have. The Service provider allows the Enterprise service through it's network w...

You can increase and decrease the e-mail storage limit, as far as megabytes, but there is no additional cost (yet?)...it does cost more (usually) to have BES rather than BIS.
For instance you can have a personal Blackberry Handheld, but if you want to use it for business reasons with my company it's an extra $29.98/mo added to your voice plan. BIS is only $19.99/mo. We also have bundeled packages just for Blackberry...You will not get access to servers behind a proxy server or firewall......

I think that might be an APN you're thinking about...the BES has no fluctuation in megabytes...it's the server or platform for which corporations provide blackberry service.

Redirector is not really a preferred method, but this is what it is and why:
Let's say for instance you have a small company. A $10,000 BES account is not going to benefit you, but your company extends outside access to it's internal e-mail. (Sort of like netmail eg: [email protected] would be _______.netmail.company.com etc...there are MANY services and variations) However, even though your company extends e-mail access outside of the server and firewall, the firewall still exists. That would make it very difficult for BIS to be set up company-wide, and even individually, and multiple account would have to be purchased...again, not very cost effective. What BB Redirector does, ...

So, technically you're right in how you're thinking, you got the right direction..but not quite. Most of the megabytes stuff has to do with your provider, not blackberry. Blackberry offers small business solutions as well, but depending on your needs it can either be BES or BIS...
Right, the carrier's plan offers the amount of data that can be sent and received through our network. i.e. unlimited for $49.99, etc. but aren't there different size servers that allow more users or clients to be involved with the email platform?

I don't believe there is a user limit, but there may be an additional charge for how many you have past a certain point, or depending on your plan. I don't know how much, but it would be billed through Blackberry. I would assume it would depend on your companys specific arrangement with Blackberry....here's the link to support, billing is at the bottom right side...I can't see anything, can you?
