Interesting news from Vodafone

So Engadget has this post about Voda "dropping" the HTC HD2 because it was selling so fast they couldn't get anyone to buy the iPhone (the one from crApple).hahahahahahaha I can't wait for Vz to get their version of this bad boy; I keep hearing it's going to be a Droid.
Apparently Voda's contract with crApple specified they must sell so many or buy them themselves and this seems to be the norm on other world-wide carriers, forcing many (most) of them to stop selling other smart phones in order to force the sale of crApples ****. Amazing.

Vodafone doesn't even list this phone being available for sale. Second, the HD2 is a Windows Mobile based phone, not an Andriod phone. And lastly, I doubt Apple can mandate a certain number of phones to be sold, at the expense of other phones. They can't make carriers not carry certain phones in order to carry the iPhone. If they did that, then they run the risk of a carrier not carrying the iPhone.

I believe Apple would have been better off selling the phone themselves unlocked, and not carrier exclusive with a stronger lock than other phones.

Just my opinion, the iPhone is way overrated. I knew someone who kept pressuring me to get one & switch to AT&T. He told me that I could just have the iPhone, and get rid of my PC. Sup...

Vodafone reportedly ditching the HD2 as iPhone launch looms (update: nope!)
By Darren Murph posted Dec 10th 2009 at 1:46PM
Here's an interesting one. Vodafone, which is one of the few carriers in the world right now with access to HTC's HD2, is reportedly not going to stock the handset any longer once its current supply evaporates. The reason? Why, that's a fantastic question! According to a company spokesperson, there has been a "massive amount of interest" in the big-screen mobile, with initial stock "selling out quickly and subsequent deliveries used to fulfill backorders." Call us crazy, but it seems a wee bit foolish to can a product that's selling well -- unless, of course, Voda has a certain amount of iPhones that it'll be required...

Thanks Dave, appreciate that; it was late, I was tired, took what I thought was the easy way out. 😕 All I know is what it says on Engadget but knowing crApple it has the ring of truth to me. I agree with you about the iphone, not interested and yes, I think Vz will get something from crApple next year, just not the iphone. I don't believe Vz was offered it in the first place; just doesn't make sense from crApples viewpoint. They were set on a GSM phone from the beginning, ruling out Vz. And for the record I don't hate the iphone, just crApple. Their product is quite exceptional really, changed the phone business forever (and for the better I think). I spent a long time in manufacturing, worked 4 1/2 years for a cell phone company and...

I'm not all that crazy about Apple (or as you call it crapple 🤣 ) because their products are more locked down than anything made by, or for Microsoft. The iPhone did change how people use their phones. If I were to change my mind later on for a touch screen phone, it would have to be a phone that isn't 100% touch screen. So that would definitely leave out the iPhone. My needs might evolve overtime. But my current phone meets my needs.

As for working in manufacturing; I've worked in it for 9 years at various companies. I had a chance back in 2000 to work thru a temp service at Motorola at one of their Chicago area plants. I got cold feet on it that I took a pass on it. I believe it was for their Libertyville plant, which closed ...

Sounds like a lot of the same experiences; I worked for Kyocera Wireless back in 2000-2004 here in San Diego. They used a lot of temps too, just the nature of manufacturing nowadays, sorry to say. They sent all manufacturing to Mexico, then 6 months later it all went to China. Not the same company anymore.

That being said, I like the look and feel of HTC products lately and I have high hopes for Vz's version of the HD2; think it's going to be a Droid, can't wait.

As for Apple, I don't really hate their products; their actually quite good, well made. My own brother (for crying out loud) got an iphone (lol). Like you I think their too controlling.
