I bought the LG GLANCE because it was one of the few allowable for the old plan that I have.
I like its lightness, but the speakerphone is tinny and not clear at all, and I prefer to use the speakerphone.
I might have to give up my old package and get the newer ones available so that I can get a better phone.
Which Verizon phones have good voice quality and good speakerphone quality?
I do want a phone and video but I do not do text messaging, listen to music or surf the web on my cell.
Which phone do you recommend?

If you want the best of the best when it comes to speakerphone, any Blackberry will do the job, they are the only manufacturer I am aware of that uses a full duplex speaker. If you dont want a data plan, consider using a bluetooth. There are many to choose from and I am sure you can find one to fit your needs.

Ok, I checked the two out. I think that they are not for me. The ENV 3 review says that it doesn't hold the reception as well as other Verizon phones, and the ENV TOUCH has a keyboard that I would never use, and to access the double speakers, I would need to open the clamshell up.
Any other recommendations you can send my way?
I would appreciate it.

Lorna,
What phone did you end up with? I tested from the store 3 different phones using the speakers. The Barrage, the samsung convoy and the Casio rock. I made calls to another phone guy to make the comparisons.
Conclusions:
The Barrage speaker was ok but not as loud as the the Samsung which was the loudest of the three. The samsung also had more talk power. The rock was ok and louder than the Barrage with it's speaker, however the mic on it was on the tinny side and not loud enough to callers.
Note: I know that the barrage had problems with the first ones that were manufactured and there was a subsequent update to the newer ones that supposedly fixed the volume problems. I don't know which vintage I tested in the store so mayb...

I thought that almost all phones have full duplex speakers.
I do not want a data plan and do not text or surf the web, so the main features for me are the actually calling, reception, and clarity of voice. Also, a camera and video.
Why would a Bluetooth be recommended? Because of the earbud? I actually had a Nokia Bluetooth earbud and it was too much trouble to use, although the earbud was very secure in my ear. I prefer to use the speakerphone.

Dear ArmySF..... I just now checked out the Barrage at Cnet Reviews and saw their video. It is a push to talk phone!! I do not need a push to talk phone
What surprised me is that it is waterproof. The fellow put the phone in a glass of water to show that it can receive calls that way.
But it got only ok reviews for the voice quality.

That's the old review before the hardware revision. The phone is OUTSTANDING in every aspect now. You don't have to use the PTT to own the phone. The voice quality is the absolute finest there is. I use my speaker phone with the flip closed in the belt clip attached to my trucks visor all day long with perfect clarity and loudness. It's worth the trip to the store to try in person. My entire squad is using them, and everyone is happy.
