Motorola Droid Freezing

WirelessFamily

Question...I have a Motorola Droid and LOVE IT....however am curious if anyone else is having issues with freezing? VZW just did an exchange for another new one because it was turning off and not turning on (had to take battery out), it was also download apps after a wipe that I had previously installed.

Now after 3 days with the new one it keeps locking up on me and I just had to do a battery pull.

Is this a known software issue? Am I doing something?

any insight is appreciated

thanks all

It may be an app you downloaded. I've had several Moto Droids and I ran into the same thing with old apps showing up. I think they must sync with Google somehow, kind of like your contacts.
So I'd delete the last app before you noticed it freezing up.
Hope this helps. 😉

You have a task killer, correct?

I don't have trouble with mine freezing, but it does get sluggish if I am downloading a lot and don't run task killer.

Also, if you have a lot of "active apps" aka, ones that constantly run in in the background, you might be running into issues. Know someone with an Eris and they had a Drunk Dialing app, a location app, local, weatherbug, and they were running an IM program and trying to browse the web on two different browsers.... it wasn't pretty. The phone is made for multitasking, but just like a computer, it has a limit.

Open your task killer about 3 minutes after you do a kill command. What apps are running?

Yes and I use the task killer regularly. Funny thing is the very first droid I had never did this and I had many of the same apps plus some more. Recently I had tv guide and a calorie counter and notice the problem so took those off. Previously on the one the replaced I had chess and solitaire in addition to my reg apps and took those off.

Just seems odd is all. My wife (thankfully) has not experienced this at all. The only thing I can figure is it is because I am on the web a lot more than her and also on hi yahoo which she is not (but again did not have this issue before).

isn't this odd? or am i just nutty? lol

thanks

that is odd...

I'm sorry you're going through that... the only other thing I can suggest is going into your browser settings and clearing the cache.. but I'm not sure how much that will help

thanks...not your fault though...just frustrating.

yesterday it happened so I went and ran task killer and cleaned out my cach.....about 10 seconds later I got a force close for google maps...I wonder if something could be messed up with my app sync or something on the servers?

is there a way to go in and clean that off?

to be honest i am thankful it is a software issue (it seems)...i can work through that lol

It could be a app you downloaded. I know some apps can mess up the phone.

wouldn't removing the app fix it though? and wouldnt it do the same things on other phones?
I know my latest issues have been google maps force close...wonder if it has to do with me declining to share my location on google home page?
