The 5GB limit does not apply to data usage directly on the 3 inch screen. Direct-on-the-handheld usage is not limited by any of the major players on any smartphone package.
The 5GB cap only applies when connecting your phone to a PC or laptop to use it as a modem on a full-scale computer. If you're planning to use your phone as a modem, you'll need to be cautious or steer clear of streaming video sites like Hulu and Netflix. Continuous radio like Pandora and high-action online games like World of Warcraft will eat through the 5 gigs pretty fast, too.

You really aren't clear. As Cell student stated above there is no limit to using Internet on your phone. If you ARE talking about tethering your phone as a modem, however...5GB is ot NEARLY enough. With VZWs tether package every mb beyond the 5GB is a nickel.

Why is it I always see this misconception online? I rarely see it in my store, though I know the T-Mobile indirects in our area tell people all the time that our smartphones are limited to 5GB (but I don't have to answer to it very often). Even IF smartphones were limited to 5GB, MOST MOST MOST people would be hard-pressed to come close. My biggest month EVER was the first month I had my Droid, which was 1GB. Before that, my biggest month ever was 500MB. I only hit 1GB because everyone and their cousin were playing with my phone at work. I had the only working Droid in our store for a week.

How much You Tube do you play on that thing? Do you stream ESPN radio via Radio Companion or Moodio? I've heard the 5GB nonsense in a few places, actually.

Well thanks everyone for your comments.I understand now.It doesn't tell you clearly on the verizon homepage about the usage limits with the smartphone plans.I will just be thankful as my daughter goes off to college this fall she will have a signal finally.

The biggest thing to remember is unlimited is unlimited. Somewhere in the email and web for smarphones/blackbery it should say unlimited. The plans for the aircards which is capped at 5GB does not say unlimited.
