If i don't have insurance on my phone and the screen just stopped working, can I take it to a verizon store and they can replace it for $50?

If it's under a year old and has no physical or water damage then it will be a free replacement. Otherwise, $50 should cover it.

I got that email yesterday. It seemed pretty much the same way things are handled now. This situation would still be a $50 replacement without insurance from what I saw.

Insurance as we know it today is not changing April 1. But having it will become potentially more critical.

Today: phone is within warranty but with busted screen (or whatever), $50 fee for replacement. Phone is out of year warranty and needs replacement, $50 fee for replacement.

April 1: phone is within warranty but with busted screen (or whatever), $50 fee for replacement. Phone is out of year warranty and needs replacement, $50 fee for replacement. $50 fee only usable once within 12 month period. If you break your phone again, or something goes wrong again, you have to wait until after the 12-month anniversary of the last $50 exception, or buy a new phone full retail.

Today: phone lost, stolen, or damaged, get new phone at 1...
