Amazon.com cell phones... good or bad idea?
I just noticed you can get cell phones through Amazon.com and they offer insane rebates so even a phone like the Motorola V710 ends up being free. For other phones they pay you $100 to take them. Is this too good to be true? If I were to buy a phone through them could I bring it to a Verizon Wireless store if I ever needed help?

Amazon you can only activate new lines and I STRONGLY suggest you read every teeny tiny last shread of fine print. Most of their offers are completely valid, but not as simple as they may sound.
About the support, from what my friend says thats a vzw retail store manager, you should be able to go to a full service store and they'd take care of you. (Other stores should too, but some reps, and this is industry wide have a tendancy to groan if you aren't their customer and they aren't making a sale...I know thats not the right answer, but it does happen)

Verizon will provide the warranty repairs only for the phones they've sold through the direct channel or verizon telesales. Phones sold by authtorized retailers must be fixed (exchanged) through the authtorized retailer. Like radioshack, wireless zone, online stores etc. It makes sence, BMW you've bought through JoeShmo's Bimer cannot be fixed in BMW of Nashua. Sometimes vz stores might make an exception, but you better be a very good customer. Correct me if i'm wrong. =)

Thx everyone! I kinda figured everything you all said but I just wanted a confirmation since I'm still a cheapskate.
In the long run it seems more trouble than its worth... I'll just pick up something from the verizon store.
