The problem with the Brigade

Since I can't log into Engadget between three brands of web browser, I thought I'd respond to their article here. Here's the link:

It feels like the Brigade's been in the public conscience for forever and a day (and let's be honest, November is forever and a day ago by phone standards), but amazingly, Casio's latest rugged G'zOne for Verizon still isn't being offered -- at least, not in any official capacity. Yup I agree the price is outrages! But G'zOne fans are used to a higher price for their premium phone. I think the rape me data is what will really kill this phone.

To get the most out of the CASIO G’zOne Brigade, customers will need to purchase a data package beginning at $9.99 per month for 25 megabytes with Mobile Email, or add Push to Talk for $5 per month per line on top of a qualifying voice plan. Customers who activate Push to Talk service will also be eligible to receive a $30 discount on Push to Talk phones.

So if you add Push to Talk you avoid the data fees? That's not THAT bad then (for businesses) but it still sucks, especially at that price point
