Droid/Rooting/2.1
So, i have been thinking about rooting my droid but was wondering has anybody on this forum ever rooted the moto droid or droid eris? Plus when is 2.1 coming to the droid? Also have any of you reps come across someone who tried to root their droid but turned it into a brick?

The Droid Eris just got root yesterday, so not many have experience in that "exact" department.
I have rooted my friends Moto Droid, took me about 15 minutes. I have also rooted several G1's, a Nexus One, plus done custom ROMs on WM devices.
It is very easy to root the phones... you just have to make sure you follow all of the steps exactly, don't panic or freak out, and you will be fine. The only time you can brick a phone is if you flash the wrong Radio ROM or SPL... it takes talent to do that, ie you have to lack reading skills and be ignorant to a lot of things.... none the less, on xda-developers there is at least 1 person a day that bricks their device because they pretty much suck at following very clear directions.
