Moto V710

So my contract is coming up, and I need a new phone. I work for cingular (although it isn't available in my area) so I know a little bit about phones, and I want a cool phone. I was set on the LG8000, but after holding it, I realized it was ugly and heavy. I'm thinking about the 710 (I felt it at a store), but the one thing I loved about the LG phones is I could record ringtones, by recording sound (I know the quality isn't great, but it's better than paying Verizon for them)..can this phone do it? Has anyone had the 8000 or 7000 and do they have an opinon either way?

The irony...everyone (aka..all cell companys) is so busy bashing each other that they don't have anytime to answer a customer's question.

Motorolas have MP3 rings. I wish Sony had that feature, Sure beats those annoying cheezy midi file playbacks of top 40 tunes. Do people really send money for those annoying cheezy ringtones? Sony has all the free ringtones on their site one could ever need. MP3 ring capability would be nice though.

As Ringling and/or Barnum once said:

"There's an ass for every seat."

How true they were!

But does the phone have to ability to record sound? I want to record music from my CD player. Or is it easy to download MP3 on to the phone from a computer?

About CDMA phones yes, I know lots about the phones we offer, but the selection is much different with Verizon. You should know that.

On a second note, yes I work for the competition, but also I'm a customer and I would think that Verizon is beyond mocking its customers.

SHSCAPTAIN,

The motorola V710 is an alright phone. Yes it is a little smaller than the vx8000 but it does have limitations. The camera in the V710 is awful. The V710 has the ability to use mini-SD memory. If you buy the mini-SD memory, you can put multimedia features on the card. This includes pictures, ring tones, .wav files. You can also transfer your pictures off the mini-SD card to your computer via the included regular size SD adapter sleeve.

The vx8000 has a much nicer camera. The speakerphone also matches in quality of the moto v710. I really like the color displays on the inside and outside. Both displays show up better on the vx8000 than the moto v710. Now the ringtone recorder on the vx8000 is not as good as one would think. ...

What a cheap attack but what should we expect from a US Cellular Fan Boy. Just because someone works for a cell company doesn't mean they will know a lot about phones moron. At least the captain is in here asking a legitimate question instead of taking cheap shots.

Thank you, and I'm sorry I didn't realize that he worked for US Cellular. That is the problem with these forums, you don't what agenda the person has.

I used to work for Verizon and still have a brother working there. I am waiting on a 710 that I ordered yesterday and it does seem like a good phone if you aren't worried about the limited Bluetooth abilities.

What do you mean, what should you expect? What does working for US Cellular have to do with anything? Yeah, he made a stupid comment but what does that have to do with US Cellular? I'm just trying to understand your logic. ☹️

I do not know if anyone has answered your question.

I would recommend going to moto.com and opening up a pdf formated user guide for the v710. Do a search for record or recording or maybe memo by clicking on the binoculars (if you're usung adobe).

Thank you, I think I might do that. I wish I could find somebody with the phone and I could play around with it. It's so much easier to decide on real phone rather than those store models.
