A quick evolution chart of technology, FYI

Interesting. So, according to the chart, GSM is 2G, and CDMA2000 is 3G? I always thought CDMA2000 was 2.5G.

Any VZW folk want to clarify?

Technically, CDMA2000 was submitted on paper to the ITU as a 3G technology. On paper, it meets the minimum requirements for 3G.
However, it is usually called 2.5G because of the fact that, in real life applications, it does not meet the minimum standards to be called 3G.
These labels are pretty confusing anyway.
I've pretty much just started calling things what they are. Edge is Edge; UMTS is UMTS; and CDMA2000 is CDMA2000. They perform at their own levels and do their own tasks. The #G doesn't really mean anything to the end user. It's...
