Verizon did not cripple the V710

Motorola did not make any V710's for sale with Object Exchange (OBEX). You can go to the black market, or to Wireless Imports and offer to pay thousands $$ and still it is not available. Not from USCC, Alltel, South Korea, Japan. Motorola did not ship any with OBEX and Bluetooth SIG did not Qualify the device for that profile.

Any reports of OBEX being crippled on the V710 are false, because it was never on the phone to begin with. Of course, the carriers could have specified that they wanted it, but they did not.

Technology has advanced because there has been a demand for the services that necessitate that technology. Cell phones are a good example of this, but there are of course others. America will never be able to lead in this fie...

Let the market do the talking. Verizon is one carrier that does not allow unlocked phones. There are other that do. Thats how they want to do business. That is their decision.

They do NOT have a monopoly like the old Bell days so legislation based on monopoly laws will not apply. The market will decide what they want.

I can buy phones all day long and use it with my Carrier.

I got a Nokia 6585 to work just fine on Verizon. Voice anyway.
