Verizon is BRILLIANT!!!!!!

LL Cool Jake

Apr 12, 2010, 11:36 AM
Yep they are I'm paying more for my cell service now because I refuse to pay $10 for dumb phone data. I'm not going to port away to sprint to save a little money and be weary of their service. I don't want prepaid and be left high and dry if something goes wrong. Yep I'll stay because verizon is the best carrier in my area, and I'll pay more.

They got me! They ARPU will go sky rocket, and the few cry babies will go to boost or buy basic simple feature phones.

On a side note the wife and I are happy with our new smart phones, and don't mind continuing on supporting Verizon.

I'll just go month-to-month at my current rate until my LG enVΓƒβ€šΓ‚Β² dies. Hopefully, no less than a year or two. Screw the ba$tard$.

If the Verizon network is so important to you, there is always Page Plus. Unlimited Talk and Text on VERIZON'S NETWORK for Forty bucks per month and yes it IS pre-paid. So what? That makes it EVEN better. Hmmmmmm...I wonder how big, bad (expensive) Verizon can allow a reseller to use its network so cheaply? Could it be that they are raping their post paid customers with no Vaseline?

When people talk about how good the "Verizon Network" is... they aren't referring to simply the native network owned by Verizon, but the native network plus the collection of roaming agreements Verizon has setup.

The Verizon network if over rated in my opinion. Sprint has most of the same roaming agreements in place. I used to like Verizon from the customer service aspects...that's changing quickly.

Verizon's customer service is top notch. It is also irrelevant to my posts. Everytime I call Care or Tech the reps are professional and courteous. I give the rep a 10 and I give my likelihood to refer a friend to Verizon a 7 (which is a lie, I would never refer anyone to Verizon I just don't want the rep to take too much guff). When I get a call back from a manager asking why not a 10, I tell them, "You're too expensive. What kind of friend would refer a friend to the most expensive carrier?"

One of my buddies had an alias with Verizon and I told him about Page Plus and he is using it now. Another friend is using an 8300. Another is using an Envy. The customer service is wonderful. No question. They would win ALL the surveys if it were not for the fact that T-Mobile is close on rep quality AND many customers give T-Mobile the head up due to their cheap rates. I wouldn't recommend Page Plus to a whiny, self-entitled *Bleep*. But then I wouldn't be friends with someone like that either.

What happens when you want to opt out of the $10 fee? That's not "top notch" customer service. Sure, it's not the rep's fault, but nickels, dimes, and fees gave Sprint their horrible reputation.

It has nothing to do with customer service (as you yourself admit). A ridiculous corporate policy is just that and should be taken as such. I'm certainly not a Verizon apologist. I call it like I see it and Verizon Customer Service and Network are clearly tops in the industry. My point still remains that they are expensive and without good reason. I can take the Network with Page Plus. "What about customer service?" What ABOUT customer service?! You have unlimited minutes and unlimited texts. You should not be calling customer service in the first place. $40 for these with Page Plus versus $89.99 on a Single Line Unlimited Select plan (dumbphone). The customer service is nice but it isn't FIFTY DOLLARS nice.

No. There really is no comparison. It is not a roaming agreement which allows Sprint to roam off of Verizon. It is an FCC mandate. Carriers HAVE to allow customers of other carriers to roam for Voice. If Verizon could deny Sprint customers the ability to roam in areas where Sprint has NO coverage, they surely would. Verizon's native network stomps the competition. Period. They just overcharge for it. Also, keep in mind if one is in an area where Sprint has a thimble's full of coverage then they are not going to allow their customers to roam on Verizon. The days of force roaming to Verizon and munchkins on this site bragging about how they get Verizon coverage at Sprint rates are blessedly over.

Seriously, that Jedi mind trick might work with the rubes. I worked for Verizon for seven years and Alltel previous to that. The only roaming agreement of consequence hat Verizon HAD was with Alltel. I wasn't implying that the native coverage was tiny compared to native + roam. That's always the way it's with many people and understandably so, but HELLO owning a cell phone is a privilege if you can't afford then stop whining about it, and go to Boost.

The breakdown for us was like this

Sprint's single line plan for 69.99 that's for only 450 minutes, We call landlines Sprint so at the very least we would need their 900 minutes for 90 dollars.

With verizon $80 gives 900 minutes &txt + F&F+ &30 for data makes it $ 110

Leave verizon and go to sprint to save twenty dollars? No thanks.

The louder you talk the dumber you sound. Voice is cheap for carriers to provide, which is why they are wisely pushing consumers toward data. A privilege! Ha! You just want to console yourself for over-paying. Snob! Leave Verizon and use your old VZW dumbphones with Page Plus and save $30

πŸ™„ Not sure why you're being a jerk but I don't want to use page plus. When I looked into T-Mobile's rate plans it would cost us the same as we pay verizon because t-mobile took away their calling circle too leaving us having to get their unlimited voice plan + txt+ data no saving there. I wish bro! It's fun showing up the fan boys (or fan girls) of the big bad red and black (VZW) or the big and orange and blue (at&t) on just how badly they are getting ripped off for the same services they could alternatively be having with Sprint. Maybe Sprint needs to get the funds together to acquire Progressive and spin them off into a Wireless Cellular Services Provider and implement the whole, "Name your price" routine. The premise would be to have a couple of Reps working for VZW to come in separately to the Store to shop while taping the ad only to have them meet surprisingly at the store. Next thing you k...

If only sprint hat the coverage. They still barely go out of the lines of interstates. And don't tell me that you can just roam on verizon when there is no sprint. That might be true in a few areas but if you're in an area that sprint offers service, no matter how poor the coverage you won't roam on verizon. That's how it is here. Sprint can hardly get a signal and verizon has full signal but the sprint phones will search for service over using the verizon service.

Amarantamin

Apr 13, 2010, 10:16 PM
That's actually not true. Sprint phones will jump onto the strongest nearby signal, whether it is their network or not. This actually causes complaints with customers living near international borders, because they will be in both Sprint and international coverage range, but the international may be stronger and cause additional charges.

Also, please check Sprint's coverage map on their website. It clearly seperates roaming areas from coverage areas. The only coverage problems that 'Sprint' has is that evil monster called Nextel that they refuse to let go of. Nextel customers, I can understand why you hate your service.

Hm. Same price that ATT and Verizon offer just 5 or 10 specific numbers to dial, and then Mobile to Mobile on their own network, Sprint offers unlimited calls to all other cellphones in the US with data and text included.

People are acting as if the AMAT feature costs the customer's extra; it was a free bonus given to any customer already on a data plan. It simply upgraded the Mobile to Mobile feature that other carriers are still stuck on.

So, while other carriers are charging minutes for calling landlines and any cellphone not of the same carrier, Sprint is only charging for calling landlines and doesn't care what cellphones you call.
