Wireless telecom provider Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has been trouncing AT&T (NYSE: T) for months in surveys of customer satisfaction and loyalty. But a recent survey by ChangeWave Research shows dropped calls are a growing problem for AT&T. Even Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) and T-Mobile — a subsidiary of Deutsche Telecom (NYSE: DT) — could see gains as customers think of leaving AT&T over the network troubles.
Specifically, a March survey of 4,040 smartphone customers was conducted by ChangeWave Research, InvestorPlace.com’s consumer polling and research division. In it, Verizon customers reported only 1.5% of their calls being dropped over the past three months, the lowest in the smartphone industry. This is also the lowest percentage...

I wonder how SprintNextel would have done if the 'Sprint' and 'Nextel' sides were surveyed seperately?
Granted, it's Sprint's fault for taking on Nextel, but it does seem skewed that they would merge the surveys for both networks. I'm interested to see how Sprint and Nextel do seperately.
On another note, congratulations Verizon! They beat the competition by a long shot, which justifies their higher prices. ATT, what's your excuse?

I wonder if Verizon would have done better if they'd surveyed 'Verizon' and 'Alltel' sides separately.
Sounds plausible to me. If Sprint might be able to say it, so can Verizon, right?
...
What would be the point? Alltel was a rural carrier and in most major markets there was no Alltel. I think the Nextel/Sprint argument is more sensible because their footprints pre-merger overlapped greatly whereas Alltel complemented Verizon filling in those gaps in Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Mississippi quite nicely. Besides as a former employee of both carriers in my local area Alltel would have spanked Verizon handily (850 over 1900 any day thank you very much).
...
To note, I didn't say I felt they would do better, I'm simply curious as to the distinction. Maybe Nextel customer's are happier overall and the Sprint customers are dragging down the score? Maybe they are nearly equal? It would be interesting to see.
Sprint and Nextel are very different networks with very different coverage. Nextel phones cannot use Sprint, and vice-versa. This does not match the Verizon/Alltel comparison.

Seriously. It was interesting to me. I've had so many phones since '99. It was curious to see if anyone else has had as many phones as I have.

Yes, smart***! *Groan* What's worse: His posting his phone history or you smarting off? I'll give you a hint... Here's your sign!

Yeah, that 6215i was a re-branded Pantech handset though, so of course it was a POS. I really liked the Nokia 3589i for Verizon and the 3585 for Alltel.

The E815 dropped a call? No $hit.....mine never did.

Neither did my LG-VX7000 or my V710. I guess all things ARE possible.

It's VERY easy to remember.
So by that logic, he couldn't remember the last time he got laid because it's too frequent to count. 😎
My last dropped call was October of 2008 btw, near Jim Thorpe
