Why can,t the carrier sell the phone for the same price or less than places like Lets Talk. I know that they sell them for less than they pay and make a commission back from the carrier, but why don,t the carrier sell them for the same low price since they would not have to pay a commission to a third party?

Probably has to do with paying good employees a livable wage, costs involved in running brick and morter retail, and customer service costs.

They also only make a profit with high volume since their profit per activation has to be much less. If every retail location could run at the same operating costs and produce the same amount of activations then I'm sure the retail stores could sell equipment for less. But....thats never going to happen unless they shut down a lot of doors.

I don't sell verizon but I know that if we sold our at&t phones at lets talk prices I would be without a job or at best get paid 7.25/hr

Because let's talk doesn't have to pay sales reps commission, they don't troubleshoot issues, and only need to manage a call center and a warehouse instead of thousands of brick and mortar phones

Read the fine print with places like Let's Talk, Wirefly, and Amazonwireless. If you change or cancel your contract from anywhere between 6 months to 2 years they hit you with a fee, usually larger than the carriers ETF. 😳

overhead...lets think about this

-share holders
-commission
-insurance
-customer care
-network maintenance
-techs
-advertising

the list goes on and on.... those websites sell the product and cut ties....unless they step in and send you their own ETF of $300 for canceling or changing your plan. So after jumping through hoops sometimes to get your rebate and reading nightmare return issues...when it is all said and done they are a warehouse with some employees and offer limited support.

I also know of plenty of quality agent locations that can and will match a lot of those deals after rebate and stand behind their products... so read the small print before you buy online and remember that a minor issue you may have when buying...
