What would you want the very first appliance that is LTE ready to be? And why?

I would love it if the Nintendo DS was LTE ready. I know the Nokia N-Gage was similar, but Nintendo makes the best portable gaming units and the DS is by far the best out there!

My TV

And have it launch with broadcast networks switching to a subscription model on a per channel basis.

Seriously.. I watch like 7 channels or so. and yet I need to get the higher tier package to access some of them, so I'm stuck with 170+ useless ones.

Congress wanted to put the "A La Carte" system in place, but lobbyists blocked that. This was awhile back... but yea, I agree with you. Why do I need 400 channels when I only watch 10-20 at most?

I want the thermostat that controls my furnace and air conditioner to become location aware and shut off when no one is home (GPS feed from the phones). Would save me hundreds of dollars every year.
