vzw and number portability???

Just a quick question for anyone who could please shed some light...I've noticed a trend with vzw, and I don't get it with any other carrier...Whenever a customer of ours is either porting in or porting out from vzw, there are certain times where they say they are told they cannot port.

If they are porting out, they all say something to the effect that they were told the phone and tower settings may not accept the number because even though it's in the area it's outside of range??
If someone is porting in, they say something like they are told the markets are different??

Not all of them of course, but the only time I hear that they have to do with vzw...any ideas??

Its based off the carriers, either wired or wireless and their telephone # inventories.

Many things can impair a port. Some examples may be:

Someone from Portland, OR wants to port their number but their new address that they provide to the new carrier is a Vancouver, WA address. (in the same metro area) The port will be refused.

If the billing information is not the same for the new service provider as it is for the old service provider the port will be refused.

Much of it has to do with markets. A NYC customer cannot port their NYC # to a market outside of the NYC area.
