I want a phone first and foremost to have great reception and a strong signal...but I also want it to look cool doing it; the BT, MP3, and camera stuff are secondary. I almost got a V710, but then heard about the E815 and the LX8100 so I am waitng...but that Raz phone is incredible looking. Will Verizon ever get that model too? 😳
...
I think I saw in the news portion of this page or maybe it was somewhere else, there is a CDMA version of that phone being made. Most of the people thought it would go to Sprint though.
...
its very difficult to decide. he obviously knows about the cdma version of it. i think he was just asking who would it go to. its hard. i think sprint, but it could be verizon or both.
...
You would think Verizon would have more pull than Sprint with their large base of users.
...
well are you adding in nextel's subscribers to sprint's base? (total they have 42.9 going at the end of the 4th quarter of 2004. will probably be more obviously becuase the 1st quarter of 2005 is over.)
maybe, but i still think that verizon might not have it over sprint becuase their phone portfolio isnt that great when you compare it to sprint's.
...
Well, until the FCC and Justice Department count them, Motorola can't.
...
Sprint and Motorola don't have a good relationship so I doubt Sprint will see it. Bet on Verizon and possibly Alltel and U.S. Cellular getting this overated phone. The CDMA RAZR is rumored to be released at the end of this year and by then it will be old news compared to what other companies are releasing. The CDMA RAZR is also thicker according to reports than the Cingular version.
...
but if sprint and motorola doesnt have a good relationship it doesnt mean that they wont carry it. as you know with this merger motorola will be playing a HUUUUGE part with sprint and nextel.
...
A merger that hasn't been approved by the government yet! The last phone that Sprint carried from Motorola was the V-60v so it doesn't appear that the sanyo and samsung loving sprint are going out of their way for Motorola. The RAZR will be nothing compared to that Samsung phone revealed at CTIA this year and will probably be launched after it.
I know a couple of people with the RAZR and it isn't really that impressive of a phone for the outrageous price.
...
well the merger will be approved though. the cingular/att wireless merger was approved and thats at a highier level with a lot of parties involved. (sbc, bls, cingular and att wireless)
yea, thats an interesting point. all i can say it will be either or. thats more safe, plus we dont know. i would get the razer for its price, becuase its very good looking.
...
This is the phone that will blow the CDMA RAZR away and it will be released before.
A970: A twist and flip EV-DO clamshell with dual displays and an internal antenna. Features a 2.0 Megapixel camera with flash and optical zoom held camcorder style. Also has Bluetooth, a TransFlash slot, and speaker independent voice recognition.
...
Nextel18, do you know any demensions of the new Sam yet? It looks taller then the 8000 and wider than the Sam 610, I know it is loaded with features but it still seems pretty big, maybe it is just my eyes
...
no i dont. are you talking about the Samsung SCH-A770 ?
...
No, the a970 you just poseted that link on
...
oh ok.. sorry about that. let me see.
well as it says on the web site it has
1. ev-do
2. 2 megapixel camera
3. bluetooth of course
4. 2x zoom
5. and others.
i know that its dual 800/1.9ghz. i am not sure about the dimensions though. sorry. we will find out more if it gets fcc approval.

Actually Rich mentioned it'll in all probability go to Verizon.
...
i know he mentioned it, but both could have it though.
it could be either or, especially since sprint will be getting nextel's contig 800mhz of spectrum to do a dual mode phone. we will see. either way like someone else said on here, another phone would be better then that cdma razer phone.

You sure like to say "contig. 800mhz of spectrum", don't you?
...
i love to. its my passion.
...
You're dismissing what Rich said. He said there were two reasons the CDMA RAZR will be a VZW phone.
1. It's dual mode. (Which hypothetically could be designed for Sprint)
2. Sprint and Motorola execs both agree they are not on good terms right now. There is not a motorola in Sprint's current lineup, and there hasn't been for some time. Motorola has stated that the next phone it will do for Sprint will be an entry level phone, which the RAZR is not.
Wishful thinking. VZW will get it. I'd rather see Sprint get another high end Sanyo myself, those phones are always nice, the RAZR is an overpriced p.o.s..... pretty though
...
1. i know.
2. we already discusses this. there is one phone on the sprint's portfolio. fyi nextel/sprint will be having a lot of motorola phones. also by the way, just becuase there is a fued doesnt mean that they wont carry them. nextel and motorola has their fued and they still have their phones.
i am sure when the CRAZR comes out there will be another phone better.
...
they could. i think either sprint or verizon could have the RAZER. it is difficult, becuase it would be a step up in class between verizon's now phone portfolio and the portfolio after the addition of the razer, however, with sprint their phone portfolio is great and it would be a nice addition with the razer. its a hard to decide which one.
...
Well I doubt if Sprint gets it over Verizon. Sprint's overall relationship with Moto is not the best. Verizon has been landing more Moto products than any other CDMA provider. But anyways, by the time it is available it will be old news and something else will captivate our attention.
...
yea, i already had this convo with bigdadyjay. i explained to him that indeed that sprint's relationship isnt that good with motorola, however, with this sprint/nextel merger, motorola will be playing a HUUUGEE roll. just becuase you dont have a good relationship with a company doesnt mean you wont carry something.
with your last sentence i agree.
...
Where are you getting info on the A970? Cant seem to find it on phonescoop.
...
Thanks for that link,, however when I input A970 into "jump tp a phone" it comes back with "sorry, no matches found" ???????
...
