Smartphones with slide out keyboards
Hi all,
I'm going to be due in July to get a new phone and I'd like to get a touch screen smartphone with a slide out keyboard. I find the touch screen to be frustrating when you are trying to quickly type. My husband has the Droid and that is fine... but it feels like a brick because its so heavy. Not a big fan of the palm slider that is also out.
Anyone know of any other smartphone models coming out with a slider keyboard? Am I correct that the Droid X will not have one?
TIA

Sounds like the phone that you're looking for is the LG Ally. Same operating system as the droid, a little bit less expensive as well as being a tad bit smaller and lighter than the Moto Droid.

If I could add my 2 cents, I am not a fan of LG anything. Once upon a time I couldn't see myself using an all touch phone either, but the Moto Droid's keyboards (both of them) drove me nuts so I opted for the HTC Eris. I have never looked back. Typing on the virtual keyboard is a breeze, and trust me, you DO get used to it, and I am much faster on it than I ever was on my berry. There are so many better choices than the LG. But again, just my opinion.

The Samsung Galaxy S was announced for Verizon today on Phone Scoop.

The Samsung Galaxy S will probably be in stores mid August early September.

If you're going to opt for an all touchscreen phone, dear God, do not sell yourself out for a 3.2 inch diagonal if you care about fast text entry!
Hold out for the Droid Incredible to actually catch up with demand and/or get replaced with something else 3.7 inch or bigger.
