Bay Area, CA. article from PUC re: Cingular/Verizon. Comment's?

Hi All! Saw this on our local news here in the S.F./East-Bay area, CA. regarding the numorous complaint's to the Cal-PUC regarding Cingular. Granted this is just one area of the U.S., but there is quite a difference. In the last 6-month's Cingular received 2,769 complaint's, versus Verizon's 379. T-Mobile received less, but they are a smaller company. Was thinking of switching to Cingular in May or July, but now hesitant. Does anyone know about this, and have things now improved for Cingular? Comments?
Thanks!
Chris

wow thats high for cingular. i wouldnt switch to cingular yet becuase of the merger integration becuase there would be more problems. there was a problem in SD for a bit.

overall as the intergration goes along and the process is finished then cingular should be better. i think you should wait till after the integration is completed which should be in 2006.

I live and work in the bay area. Coverage is great. I RARELY drop calls. Im using the Nokia 3120, great phone, great reception and battery life. As previousl;y mentioned, San Diego, which is nowhere near the bay area WAS having problems, but have since been ironed out.

Cingular had SEVEN TIMES the number of complaints as Verizon?! Damb.

Man I knew they were having problems, but I didnt know it was this bad. Almost feel sorry for them.

thats what i am saying.

verizon has less complaints with billing, and service.

that shows me that cingular is worse then verizon.

Geez, tell us about it. That article was from the Bay Area (where I live), and it summed up perfectly why I'm with Verizon, and not Cingy. 😉

Normally I would say wait and see. Because much od the issues could be buyout issues. But in the California case I have to say that it is a repeat performance for Cingular in California. This has been going on there for a few years. While their Eastern markets are relatively good, they have troubles in the West.

yea, what else is new? lol.. if it happened before it should keep on happening becuase it seems like there is a repeat like you said. they need to fix these problems, or people will start to leave.

Maybe its me but, the new subs for Cingular last couple quarters vs Verizon tell me much different. Thats got to be frustrating for Verizon.

Seems the ATTWS customers, as expected, have most of the issues. But it looks like most are staying anyway. Go figure. No alternative worth a crap.

I was an ATTWS customer and yes they gave away the farm for signing new contracts. ATTWS spoiled their customers. They gave away promo mimutes like water. Its no wonder many ATTWS customers are having adjustment issues. Personally my service got better as I went from...

Verizon would not be making changes actually costing them income if they felt it was not necessary.

ATT gave away the farm. I know I was a beneficiary of that. Verizon is only giving away the chickens.
They would not be doing that if they did not feel pressure too from somewhere. Verizon is just not that benevolent a company.

Here is a simple non-biased answer for you, which you rarely find on this board nowadays. Try out cingular if that is what you're thinking of doing. They have a 30-day try before you buy type thing. If it works and the plan is right for you, great. If not, you can return it and pay for the minutes you used and stay with Verizon.

That is about as simple as it gets.

I live in the south bay and did not like Cingular or AT&T. My sob stories are on the following links.
