It's about a month after it was officially released as source code. It's been REALLY quiet on the leak front of late.
If you want froyo now, root 🙂

Smiles...thanks, I am afraid to take that route and screw up a phone that I really like.
I am looking forward to being able to install apps on the SD card, and the flash aint a bad idea either.

It's really hard to brick the motorola droid. It was left basically unlocked anyway. Going from 2.1 (non root) to 2.2 (with root) takes about 30 minutes once you download all the files.
I understand why you want to be careful, it took me a long time to do it as well.
If you ever want to give it a go, send me a PM and I'll forward you the steps.

Didn't download it yet. still really miffed about the signed bootloader/tripwire on the droid X.
Looks like my next phone will be Samsung/HTC unless (hopefully) motorola starts thinking again and releases a Stock android, non tripwired android device.

Froyo should pushed out late August. There was a minor software update to the X this week. Once the X gets the froyo update then it should be pushed out to the droids.

So I guess 2.2 will be Motorola's Bday gift to me then. Cause my birthday is in late August.
Btw, I know I'm late, but I'm just now watching Pirates Of Silicon Valley for the first time ever!

Late August huh? Should I start holding my breath again? 🙂
