Looking at new phones/getting new plan

So i become eligible for Ne2 next week and i am looking to get a droidx...which i am already preparing myself to wait a while. At the same time i am moving my fiance to my plan and we are going to do a family plan. She is currently on her mom's plan and i know i have to have her mom call in and switch the liability to me.

I am trying to figure out the easiest/best way to accomplish this without major issues. Although my fiance is not eligible for an upgrade right now; however, there are upgrades available on her mom's plan on other lines. First question would be can she use one of those other upgrades on her line? Secondly, when i assume the liability should i get my phone and assume the liability at the same time?

On your fiance line, upgrade the first by using one of the other upgrades on her mom's account. Once that is done, move her line to your account and create a family plan. Make sure your line is the primary line because you will keep your NE2. Now you can order your droid x. Any corporate store can do this.

Does it necessarily matter if I do mine first or her's first?

It doesn't really matter. You can still upgrade the line on her mom's line at any time and activate it on your wife's reguardless of whose account she is on at the time.

What I would consider is your bill cycle date. I'd try to do the switch to your plan as close to your bill cycle date before due to the proration. If you do it a few days after your bill cycle date, then you're next months bill will be almost double what it would normally be with your two lines. Where as if you do it a few days before, it will only be a little extra.
